  1. Maybe he's not a very informed electrical inspector. I'll see if I can scan the section of the standard and post it. To have an EWOF you have to be fully earthed. I take that to mean rails, mast, keel, the lot. Taken from the standard: "Earthing of a distribution system is to be effected by means independent of the earthing arrangements or non current carrying parts and is to be connected to the hull or to the earth plat at one point only." And.... Equipotential bond: "Electrical connections intended to bring exposed conductive parts or extranious conductive parts to the same or appro
  2. Gulf Harbour are being stupid now. You cannot get an EWOF for the circuit that you described. (Board with an RCD and outlet). You can get a tag for the lead, and that is all. To qualify for an EWOF, you need other things like: All metal components on the boat to be connected to a central earthing point. All above connections less than 0.5 Ohms resistance to said earth. MEN connection, which means you will require a galvanic isolator or isolating transformer. Fully tested RCDs using proper test gear ($1000 meter). Full insulation test between DC and AC system. (Megger) It's all in AS/NZS 300
  3. Awesome Josh. Looks trick! Very nice score there.
  4. Great result. Really pleased for them. Big ups to the insurance company.
  5. Hmmmmm. Looking better and better this race. Great if the Spy comes up. I think Provincial are keen... Go the Ross boats!
  6. 64Gb SSDs are tiny... Could do with more memory for sure. The rest looks nice and compact!
  7. Very cool. Any pics of the PC itself? Is it ruggerdised? SSD hard drive? Sounds like a nice solution.
  8. Hey Ptown! I'm looking at upgrading the Marshall's keel to get some real righting moment, and I'm really interested on what it cost you, as I will be getting everything done by others. I'm under no illusions about costs, but I need to figure out just how big the bill will be!! If you could pm me how YOU got on, I'd appreciate it. Loving this thread.. Cheers, Smithy.
  9. The Landowner is US mate! The public! It's public ground. The council are our representatives. So you think it's OK that the campground just gets bulldozed? Seeing as it's been there for 80 years and brought holiday pleasure to thousands of all social strata (and plenty of yachties) and injects considerable cash into the local community, not to mention $160K annual rent that YNZ do not have to pay in the new deal.. Nothing against Taka boating club. I'm an ex member myself, but this one eyed, self interest from yachties, at the expense of the local community is not good to see.
  10. Correct. They are taking the piss and have hoodwinked YNZ into coming along for the ride. This is nothing short of corruption, and when "YNZ" is replaced by "HAT" and the "Elite sailing centre" becomes a "Marine community centre" You know it is starting to stink.
  11. Location of the high performance centre? Okahu bay, (Help with the new RAYC centre being built) alongside Taka yacht club (New construction) or like KM says, Long bay.
  12. Nice poll. I am not making any friends at Murray's Bay with my stand on this, but for me, locating this centre at the Taka ramp is beyond dumb and not making yachting any friends. The motor camp really is a Kiwi gem that is used by thousands of people from both NZ and overseas. I have seen figures of $7M spent annually by tourists visiting the caravan park and the council gets rent of $160,000 a year. YNZ have negotiated this to $1 a year. Adding to that is significant skulduggery by YNZ/HAT (A trust set up to take away the heat from YNZ) stating that this is a "Community marine centre". Is
  13. North Sails have always done an awesome job for me and much cheaper than many others.
  14. So I get a warning for abusive behaviour?? Where was that? When I said I was expecting a warning soon, I thought I would have to do something to deserve it!! There's a whole thread taking the piss out of Tomato Sauce, so my comments look pretty tame in comparison.. Might be 100% Sailing Anarchy soon... Another reader not a poster!! Putting people on ignore makes threads unreadable as they make no sense. Tried it before.
  15. Well done BB!! Looks pretty immaculate from that shot!
  16. Not sure what you mean Ketchup by saying "That says it all really". I'm not sure what it says? I have no need to hide behind a multitude of funny names like you, but maybe I just don't care so much if people know who I am... In these online days, maybe that is a little naïve. Not sure. No hating involved mate. Happy to debate. The devil faces were just to wind you up and you responded like one of Pavlov's canines, so all good!
  17. Hey AJ! Smithy IS my real name. Marshall Law is my yacht and I live in Mairangi bay (sometimes).. I did think twice and like I said in the post, I must be getting cynical. Overly cynical as it turns out, and I am chuffed that it was not the case and really feel for them at having their pride and joy stuck over in Aus. However, it would be nice if Mr. Ketchup and co outed themselves!!
  18. Hey Chloe. Here's the original item. I have just read it twice and nothing like that was said: http://www.nzherald....jectid=11398299
  19. From Stuff: ya A fugitive Kiwi couple wanted in connection with allegations of fraud and sexual assault are understood to have been detained in Sydney. Paul James Bennett, 52, and his long-time partner Simone Anne Wright, 38, are believed to have been on board a yacht stolen from the Bay of Islands a fortnight ago, that limped into Sydney Harbour yesterday evening with a broken mast. READ MORE: * Couple on the run may have stolen yacht * Big reward offered for information on fugitives * Fugitive laid a complaint with police New Zealand police had been investigating whether Bennett and Wri
  20. Humble apologies to any insurance aspersions cast upon the owners!!
  21. Thanks Steve. It would want to be flat calm to squeeze the Marshall in there. There's a lot to be said for centreboards!! I'm not a great fan of bars, but if you can manage them it certainly opens up a lot of NZ harbours!! Good on you having a go!
