Deep Purple 219
We're going up this (next) year but looking at the results history there seems to be very little interest in the windward/leewards especially for division 3 which has rarely had a fleet in 6 years. Most boats are going for the Island Races. Last time we did it was in Sundreamer in 2010 and while the worst boat for w/ls we had a ball. I'm hoping that some interest can be generated in the W/L this year as thats my preference. Can anyone be tempted to join us on the up and downs. You still get a hoon at the end of the day. Depending on the situation it just might be the next big party. erice
Fish 597
Do you still have puff, Puff? is deep purple instead of, or as well as? Another very cool name for a boat. If we went up we'd do island racing, but I doubt our kauri log is the type of competition you'd be challenged by racing W/L. Haven't done Bay week for a while (2011 I think), but it is hands down the best regatta and the best sailing I've ever been to, and am aware of in the world. Big ups to all the volunteers and the combined clubs that bring it together.
Deep Purple 219
Puff is on the market, however most interest is from overseas at the moment and that has issues so I don’t expect a quick sale. I’ve crossed to the dark side with a smallIsh launch and I can’t have 2 boats in the marina so I’ve bought the Shaw 750T the good news is I’ll be able to do SSANZ and BoI and other cool regattas I’ve missed First I have to pick it up from Queenstown
44forty 91
Yep I’m keen and there will be another 750 in the water by then that will definitely do it . Frenzy from Tauranga sent an open letter to manuela asking interested boats to change to C div from island racing B . They needed 5 Boats to make a Div but only 3 of us volunteered . They broadened the handicap range from .730 to .850 or maybe .870 ? , can’t remember . I think if there were 5 boats on the entry page for Div C more would enter . its a very cool regatta for sure and has the potential to be up there with Airlie beach if more boats entered
Deep Purple 219
I’ll put the word on Marshy with smoke wagon
Ed 104
Your best bet would be to muck in with the sports boats surely? They already have a good fleet, do windward leewards, will sail at similar angles and speeds, and have a good range of speeds from the magics upto the big bad shaws and biekers Marshy
Deep Purple 219
Yep, thats plan B
44forty 91
We would get smoked even by the Magic’s . Set up for cat 4 so have lifelines , cabin etc . plus more much bulb ballast yet a smaller rig
Deep Purple 219
Sounds like we'll be right anyway. Got three and I'm sure we can elbow a few more.
