I know it's only 20 years or thereabouts and so the pattern should not be extrapolated, but it seems the greatest advancement in safety at sea was not steam or fossil fuel power, but perhaps navigational advances ie gps? Problem was it was the landfall place after "the long journey" At night they would often make just a bit to much northing,,,..... Link to post Share on other sites
