Solo sailors beating 2 handed

Recommended Posts

Short handed does change the game a fair bit from pure boat speed to boat management. So a slower boat with a good manager is often a quicker package than a boofhead on the latest and greatest.

A bit sad after seeing 9 something metre boast doing a Transat when NZ is actively going the opposite route.

But an interesting read all the same, nice link there fella.

A couple of us have often wondered about the trans  atlantic,I use to own an old spencer box 30,sabre,we could hold our own running reaching and seeing how the t/a is down wind,we often thought new foil designs and you might have a winner

Yeah that was one of my thoughts as I was reading it. I guess the only argument for NZ to behave differently

is it's harder here to get tradewind type sailing that they're aiming for with that race. Leaving here for oz/the islands l on a fixed date for a race, who knows what conditions you'll get...

Of course Spencer put a new keel and rudder on his and she did very well

Unless you were an engineer boat tinkerer, the cost of a new keel and rudder certified for offshore would quickly be close to the cost of a more modern boat.
