mattm 98
Agreed Native, he is basically going re do the evolution of boat design, but starting with modern materials like fibreglass rather than tree trunks. Once he makes it lighter, and faster, he will find he needs a decent centreboard to make it go forward, then he will need some weight down low to keep the mast in the air and he will end up with a keel. He complained it was damp inside from condensation, and not enough space to do what he needs to, so it will need to be bigger inside and have more ventilation which means a bigger boat, even more so once it does more than 2 knots. Sounds like he has found the need for a cockpit too. Although I still don’t understand what he is trying to achieve. He said he didn’t want speed or comfort before he left, but he expects people will want his plans. Why?

MartinRF 53
Not 15 minutes. He has been doing these media stunts since the 1970s. Mostly not even putting to sea at all. /Martin
