I use this product.
http://www.allwaymatting.com.au/mats/5/specialist-equipment/137/tread-grip-430/
It has been on the boat for nearly 14yrs and still looks great. It is easy on the feet, easy to apply, water based and excellent grip.
When I recovered the deck over the main saloon, I used Burnsco's product. Wish I hadn't now. It is hard and sharp to walk on. Easy to apply and water based, but goes rock hard.
KM sells the stick on Urathane sheets. A limited range of colours and patterns and is expensive compared to paint. Not as good wearing, but it is soft underfoot, and insulates to a point.

I used kiwigrip for the first time a couple of years ago. Friend of mine told me to pull the masking tape off soon after painting. I didn't get it off soon enough and it skins up quickly and leaves a ragged ugly edge. If I was doing it again I'd have someone following me around taking the tape off as I finish each area. If you wait for it to dry out is stronger than the tape and you can't get the tape up.

Agree on the kiwi grip acrylic deck paint but the light grey that burnsco sells gets really hot underfoot. Because we've got so much cockpit floor area I get a tin of white and a tin of light grey and mix them together to lighten the colour. It still gets quite warm though but looks cleaner than using straight white.

I'd agree with VB on this. The grey is too dark/hot, but the 1:1 mix reduces deck clear enough, and is much cooler. I've had this product on Pulse for 14 years. It has worked fine on the curved side deck, but not so well on the cockpit floor that tends to stay damp. It peels off after a year or two. Possibly there is a good undercoat out there that would help in the areas...

Maybe Tim it's just not impervious to red wine! (Oh and white wine, beer, rum etc etc)

No idea what you are talking about! When have you ever seen my cockpit floor looking like a fatted calf has been brutally sacrificed overnight??

That rubber tube matting works well in cockpit floors , free draining and lets all the dirt fall through, you can walk across the cockpit without getting your socks wet after rain, the grey colour can also get pretty hot in summer if not shaded though. You can find it on Trademe about $80 a metre and seems to last for years , just throw it over the side on a rope when it needs cleaning.

I have found both marine carpet and rubber tubbing trap dirt and mark the cockpit floor which then requires a really good scrub to get it back to original condition which defeats its purpose even though it is nicer under foot

You had painting weather?
You will know if it was too cold and damp. Do a finger test. Apply finger. If finger turns same colour as surface, then paint is still wet. ;-)
Being waterbased, it does not like a dew. But once the Sun comes out and dew evaporates, the surface will still harden.
