chariot 244
Watched the SailGP racing on Sydney harbour last night on Sky. They say the boats are 20% quicker than the AC boats were. Very spectacular on a crowded Sydney harbour.
ex Elly 220
The new documentary features interviews with SailGP's co-creator, Sir Russell Coutts, talking to video images showing the F50's going through all phases of construction - some were converted from the AC50's used in the 2017 America's Cup, others were a new build. 1paulg 20
Was interesting - in an interview he suggested they would increase the number of boats (probably within 5 years) and then maybe NZ could possibily have a boat !!
chariot 244
You have to admire what Russel Coutts is doing up at Manly.

Island Time 1,278
I must admit this is pretty impressive!
Hurts 6
I must admit this is pretty impressive! Indeed - some sailing on TV was an enjoyable watch with some consistent breeze - 3 teams up to speed now and coverage was a big improvement from Sydney. I used to enjoy the extreme series - is that dead now?
chariot 244
I think sailGP on sky sport 4 again tonight.
Priscilla II 410
Extreme Series has been parked along with the Super Foilers. May well be linked to the arrival of the SailGP series. https://www.extremesailingseries.com/news/view/extreme-sailing-series-2019 https://www.superfoiler.com/series/2019-series/
Addem 119
Did anyone see the New York edition of SailGP? I’m not sure it is very compelling for us Kiwi’s to watch two Australians race each other. And Phil Robertson (kiwi skippering for China ) seems to always pick the wrong side of the course and turn a solid 2nd it third into last. New York is a horrible place to hold a boat race with heaps of current and gusty conditions -turns most races into a lottery by which I mean it is a lottery as to which Aussie will win.
