philstar 62
good outcome at the end of the day. Our beautiful boats can be replaced and resurrected. Most of the time they will outlive us, look at Ranger and some of the other A class yachts. People can't be replaced !! Memories last - she was a great boat.
Kestrahl 10
Glad everyone is safely off. Must be seriously frightening when the keel starts letting go - at least they had some warning and it didn't just randomly drop while sailing. Didn't this boat have some serious keel issues before, the ram broke and the keel smashed though the side of the wet box off Gisborne or Napier.
raz88 97
I don't know the answer to that, but ran tan was on the hard a year or so back at gulf harbour, and the keel was removed and taken away for a week or so. So it has had (relatively) recent care and attention.

Jon 412
Latest from RT2 Racing A text from Hogie this morning informed us that the boys have now transferred to another vessel, which is heading to Mazatlan, on the west Coast of Mexico. ETA 4 to 5 days. I assume that they are on another of the Azteca fleet of fishing trawlers that is heading home as part of its regular operations.

Kestrahl 10
Pretty sure it was Ran Tan, back in its early Wellington Days, because two guys I know were on board delivering it at the time. No was V5 and bit different to how you describe it
