Flatkat 1
Truxton is safe and sound in New Plymouth. Skins has badly bruised back but nothing broken so that's all good. Massive big ups to the SSANZ team, not only do they do an awesome job of running a great race but are fantastic support when you need it. Thanks also to New Plymouth Coastguard and Alan in New Plymouth for their help too. Gutted the boys didn't get to finish the race but glad they are both ok Good luck to the rest of the fleet
Guest
Just got a phone call from Vesna on Clear Vision. They have rounded the western tip of Taranaki and are about 60 miles from the top of D'Urville slightly cracked sheets doing 7 - 8 knots under full main and number 3 heady. Vesna said conditions are MUCH more confortable now - she'd done most of the driving today and Tony had done a lot of housekeeping cleaning up down below after 3 days of boat messing up conditions. She said the most wind they'd had was 25 ish knots but they had had 4 - 5 metres seas coming from two directions - very unpleasant and tiring. It's Tony's birthday today and spirits are high on board Clear Vision as they head into home waters. They expect to be in in somewhere around 24 hours.

Guest
Just got this message from Steve on Zen Finally made it to Tutukaka. Ran out of gas today so no coffee. Ran out of diesel just out of Tuts so sailed in as far as we could, got the boat flat, bled the system and snuck into the marina. Mostly single handing which I really enjoy. Had a great moment between Cape Reinga and North Cape. Reaching in 17 knots, I jammed the tiller extension into the leeward coaming and she steered herself beautifully. Then a pod of 100 plus dolphins turned up and surrounded the boat. I just left the tiller, walked to the bow and stood there watching for an hour. Have strapped a big 9kg gas bottle to the transom, wheeled Mark up to his waiting wife and we’re off in the morning before low tide. Another wee adventure, haven’t achieved what i wanted to but there are many others in the fleet worse off than us. Slowly catching up with the appalling Christchurch news. Great to see everyone pulling together. Thanks for the messages of support from everyone. Zen signing off.

Murky 1
The offer of assistance at Tut goes to any of the boats that are making their way home - sounds like you had your hands full, Zen, although made the best of the experience. Oh no, Fineline's rig too.
splashprincess 17
Heard from Clear Vision's shore crew - they are going to shelter off D'Urville Island. According to Now forecasting Brothers Island is getting 30 -39 knots at the moment.
splashprincess 17
Ilex and Mixed T Motions also heading for shelter in New Plymouth. I guess the party is now in New Plymouth?????
Murky 1
A couple of reports of whale strikes too. Not much in their favour at the moment. Boat Haulage should have sponsored this race, suspect there is going to be a bit of interest in whether it is cheapier and easier to get boats home by truck.
splashprincess 17
Along with the riggers and a boat builder! Bird on a Wing are off Sinclair Head.
