Mothership 6
The question seems to be; how long will Loyal (ex-Speedboat) last in the race before something breaks, and one of the VO70s or Wild Oats gets past to win? Loyal easily has the legs on Wild Oats, but whether she can last the distance is another thing entirely. Personally; if Giacamo or Speedboat win, I'd be happy.
Guest
What about Beau Geste? Looks like it could have a good run if nothing breaks like Loyal.
Adrianp 120
I read somewhere that the Beau Geste is half the weight of Wild Oats. If its downwind, and she holds together, shes got to be contender!

Guest
Will speedboat even be allowed to start is possibly a better question. and whats the weather going to be like.
Guest
Looks like a long running race at the moment and Im considering putting some bets down on BG for placing in the top 3 finishers on line and mabey loyal for first boat out of the harbour.
Guest
If anyone finds a good link to a replay of the start footage please post. Am in the UK and unlikely to get to see the start live but it does look as though it's going to be a cracker.
Marshy 30
Looks like a long running race at the moment and Im considering putting some bets down on BG for placing in the top 3 finishers on line and mabey loyal for first boat out of the harbour. Got $20 on line honours for Beau Geste paying $18 ($360 if they win yeaoww) And got $20 on Loyal as well just in case its a big boat running race - Will pay back the bet on Beau Geste! Marshy 30
Bummer! I hear the weather is looking lighter now, so not such a send fest... And going southerly as the big boats finish crossing the bass straight.

splashprincess 17
And we complained about the America's Cup commentators - at least they could tell which boat was which. Epic fail when Channel 7 couldn't tell the difference between Beau Geste and Giacomo!

Guest
They have just fixed the tracker. Wild oats leads with Wild thing making a good run of things so far close behind. Beau Geste currently leads Loyal showing that its bloody quick upwind as well. http://rolexsydneyhobart.com/tracker/
Guest
Giacomo are currently sitting 7th on line and 1st on handicap...... Go the kiwis
Mothership 6
Perpetual Loyal are now 10 miles clear of Wild Oats, with Giacamo another 3.5 back, and leading IRC. Looking forward to the day's racing.
