  1. Not so long ago. Don't see this very often.

  2. We used to remove the wheel. Until I was brought on deck one night at 3 am by a thunderstorm with 50kn behind it. Angela went forward while I started the engine and put the wheel back on. Except in my haste I dropped the nut to the cockpit floor where it promptly disappeared down a cockpit drain. By this time Angela had the anchor up and was wondering wtf I was up to. Maybe take it off but put it back at bedtime? We were never brave enough to try again.

  3. A one-off Alan Wright design. Sold without builder or build year known, but I managed to track the builder down and he shared some old photos which was really fantastic. Hasn't been Flying Cloud for a number of years, and I would have changed her back but the current sign writing is quite nice. Standard keel. Sadly for sale soon as I've gone larger and plastic-ier.

  4. It's a very real photo. The photographer even won an award for this photo. She was fore-reaching in 50+ knots off Sydney heads. This was the day before she got home.

  5. major iniquity all around really. Yeah, the marine industry was there first, but planning rules exist for a reason so if the council allowed apartments where its understandable that the view is a part of the value, it follows that the council should have notified the non-compliant building application by Orams. No fault on Orams part, they are victims of the council's disregard for its own rules as well.
