What cutting cats ? Skinner's been working on this project for about a year now and and has been appointed boat captain I believe or something like that.
-
The entrance to that proposal is in deep enough water and if they sifted the silt then used it for the hard areas they maybe able to use all the dredging onstite plus pay for the work with the brite yellow stuff that falls out the bottom ?

When will the full size version emerge from the shed ?

Wondering why the High Tides are really high just lately?
Jon replied to wheels's topic in MarineTalk
In the pursuit of scientific advancement I will be sailing to Great Barrier Island on the 14th I will be checking on the tidal affects to fish and rum consumption We may need to send divers down to monitor the effect to crayfish and scallops I think the best way to get a comparison will be to stay there a week and keep an eye on the after effects also The things we have to do all in the name of science ? Maybe BP can monitor the effects in Fiji if he's still there. -
I like ice with my rum Or a blender, ice and a dinghy full of fruit. This is defiantly the best way.

Solar tides in Papeete All 100/150mm of it -
The most important part of any pump is the strainer, needs to have large surface area so it doesn't block too fast. Bilge Pumps are either submersibles or or diaphragm usually, both can't handle trash in them So any good quality brand, the larger the better, it's the type of equipment you hope to never use but if you do you want regret spending a bit extra on it. I also like one at least to have a long suction hose so you can go scavenging as the water never runs nicely to where you want it.

The real problem is over 1,000,000 jafa's and not one could read smoke signals

I T I'd hate to cast aspersions on places you've been and I've been to worse spots as well but we found it the worst place we stopped in a season from Central America to Fiji Compared to everywhere else it lacked pride in its environment imho But don't get me wrong I'll still stop there next time as it's a stepping off point for Vavau which is one of the nicest cruising areas in the pacific It's a bit like comparing Suva with the Lau, but maybe I just like the path less traveled.

Sailed passed but yet to stop Great in a Cat as anchorages are shallow the drop off quickly, can be windy but that's not a bad thing in the tropics Also not much shelter if the weather turns but that's not very often but definitely on my list Tongatapu on the other hand is a Sh!t hole
-
All I'll say is a 35kts wind gust is normal for a 20-25kt forcast Gusts to 150% plus peaks to 200% the forecast is predicting the average, I'd suggest you don't head down to the Southern Hemisphere then

Beat Beat Beat I can see the battle lines of the 2017 RNI forming already Hopefully the big boat wins ah Smithy !!

Ask the Revs crew from the RNZ and Truxton decided to ditch their Sq top for a pin head and won.Square tops with a full and fresh crew, reefing offshore can be tricky but with two tired crew that's when bat cars and sails start getting damaged and then jammed The cross over seems to be out 30' under this and you can get away with a sq top but over that and its all about systems and that's what BooBoo and Damon have been optimising. Shorthanded sailing is about keeping the boat at 90%+ of it optimum 100% of the time
-
He's already gone bigger main, not square just more roach Square tend to be a problem shorthanded Now let's watch them test the new prod to death in the coastal, if they finish it will be good to go for the RNI I'm picking

Maybe, It doesn't belong to me but I can ask for you It's a 100w Furuno with didgital tuner, not sure on the exact model

Delivered a yacht with one, very stable and solid feel to them but not cheap What I like about a RIB is yes they take up more room than a roll up but if you deflate them and turn them over strapped down on deck on your passages they take up a lot less than a hard dinghy Anyway who stole the h out of the dingy ?

Congrats to you both The bests boat is the one you can afford and the one you both most happy with, it will always be a bit of a compromise and it doesn't have to be your forever boat, but if it gets you away then your winning. As for SSB verse Irridium Go, I've always been in the SSB camp but after buying our current yacht in Europe then sailing back, the plan was to fit the SSB that's now sitting in my shed But after using the Go with tracking through Predictwind I'm not going to bother as wewouldn't use it. With the Go you txt, email or call when it suits you and the same for weather
