-3, is that beer on a stick
-
Sounds like an offer I cant refuse, we're in.
-
Yeah was initially thinking about a shorter course but seems like a long way to go to do 100. The delivery is longer. A big commitment for the long one though.
-
We are giving this a miss this time. Not much fun to be had racing against 50 footers
-
Is there an entrant list yet? Truxton keen to race most likely longhaul.

15 boats on the entry list, I guess more will come through once we start to get an accurate idea of the weather -

Just over a week away for this one, who else is in? -
What a god awful concept. Waste of time, a lot of engineering to make the boat go really slow. There would be no form stability available from the hull.

If all the usual suspect don't work it must be something else. A diesel should only require fuel and compression. Does it even fire or puff smoke out of the exhaust? If it won't even fire with ether would suggest that compression must be the issue if it does fire with ether but won't run would fuel is the issue.

Sounds like fun

Hmm can't be any that have been around twice in a race. Will Mara be going?

Down by Whakatane

Looks like there was a death.
-
A bit early for jokes, 10 fisherman pulled out of the water after their boat sunk and 2 airlifted to hospital.
-
Very tough race not to be underestimated, seriously looking at it, a few ducks to line up first. At least our boat knows the way already
-
I always use these Guys, http://hurfordwholesale.co.nz/timber-species they have some lovely western red cedar.
-
Yes actually was looking to go for a reverse bow just to look cool but it didn't work with the hull shape, the big flare in the topsides.
-
Extended a little bit is about 300mm longer than before, a finer entry should push a bit less water and stop less when punching upwind. The bow section is basically sacrificial forward of the fore stay bulkhead the old one was a bit soft I literally punched a hole in it and pulled it off.

The Grey submarine has a new front.
-
Wow never seen the capes like that, pretty special.
-
Two head sails is a pretty common setup for running downwind in the trades, makes life easy on the steering gear. you may even see some cruisers keep two whisker poles stowed on the mast ready to go.

Another sensationalist headline when in fact it is barely news. The last paragraph. "MBIE added that the error did not affect its economic impact estimates for hosting the regatta in Auckland. It maintained that between 2018 and 2021 it would add between $0.6 - $1 billion in value add to New Zealand's economy and boost employment by between 4700 and 8300"

We did the transom and boarding platform on big red a few years back. Extended the cockpit floor among other things. Used the cockpit floor as the top layer and the two more layers underneath. All 12 mm ply covered in a nice heavy layer of DB. Still looks mint today.

You could probably use a length uncovered dyneema even less bulky and just attach a line for hoisting and dropping. Get the length right and you just need the block and tackle for tensioning and then take it away.

Cool shot, I bet that brings back some memories.
