  1. The organisers have done their best to get people in, but a large number are away, and now the weather is looking a little less conducive to a dream ride ..

Another challenge from the Royal Yacht Squadron , now who will pay the 'hosting fee' Middle East likely or UK?

Well if you feel the first race should have been collapsed -then you dont believe in this foiling class, it is one of the skills, and reminds me of the same thing happening last time down in the Tamaki straits , when ETNZ with the help of their on the water weather spotters reporting constantly to Clouds up on the hill managed to almost lap Prada.

Nice to see a race for a change but he who wins the start.........

Riot police there today, containing the locals chanting No Copa America , that didnt make it onto TVNZ? Jim Ratcliffe doesnt need to win on the water, he could just offer to pay Dalts 'hosting fee' and the whole thing can go to the English south coast for the next one .

They certainly should have left McIvor down at the beach sans microphone.
  8. Interesting to note that the annual Ocean swim leads the punters straight past and close to the new Auckland city sewer outlet at the end of Beaumont st, I hope for their sake we dont have much rain next week or another collapse in Parnell.
  9. Navy man speaking with forked tongue on the wireless this morning -when asked directly if the Diesel was leaking said it was contained-which is broadly true - except for the streams of it pouring out the breathers which has been filmed now !!

ETNZ v fast in a straight line, Ineos good at starting and slapping a cover on should be interesting ...

Interesting bit of spin the Squadron took part in for Emirates Team Dalton over the last month -taking an Americas cup around the country on a road trip to try and convince the locals that this was a national sporting side not just a private company set up for pecuniary reasons primarily. Still friends on the trip had a whale of a time ....
  12. Too far away , I gave you characters the best lookout last year-The Cyril Bassett VC lookout unbeatable view, but not much room for a mob.
  13. The BYOB fees are extraordinary , since I believe Christchurch was free, though they are offering access inside the exclusion zone , and your proximity to the course looks a lot closer than Chch. Still land based with the big screens etc and sleeping on my boat looks the best bet.

Todd Niall's reporting from Barcelona seems very sound and calm.

Yes not sure what they are doing in the Louis Vuitton , though I guess now they wont be for a bit.
  17. Sorry I mean the same Architect, they definitely have a stability book that they live by.
  18. Yes I thought M5 was taller , by another Kiwi naval architect.
  19. You have to take these internet talk show people with a grain of salt, that yacht report guy last week showed the security footage from our Westhaven event and said that there was someone inside the cat the flew backwards over the Marina !
  20. Thats the same local fisherman -who said she had lost a mast -I saw that interview. The two big boats anchored near her were spun about and anchor dragged but that was all, much like the Westhaven event ie extremely local and impossible to predict.

A bit of fleet racing would certainly liven things up a bit , and probably send Steven Mcivor home -he has made many basic mistakes in his commentary . Glen Ashby and Shirley are great or perhaps silence for a bit .
  22. Advanced warning ?? Where did you hear that
  23. In the case of being hit by one of these localised tornado -I would far rather be on my little Kauri log than any of the superyachts I have been on, much less cleaning up and unlikely to have water down below , though having said that -whilst single handing a few years back I got knocked down by a Katabatic gust and skidded sideways so much the cockpit was filling and when she came upright water sloshed inside as I had no washboards in, current boat has 3000kg more lead on her ...
