I’d agree with you, although, according to information on the Sport NZ website released on the 7th of May, contact sports are OK. If rugby is back on, surely a race crew of similar numbers should be allowed?
NZ would never have different rules for different people would we?

The reality is YES. Jacinda and the Health dude were very clear that professional sport is OK, but NOT community team contact sports (ie the 70,000 people that play rugby most Saturdays) is out for the time being). They talked about the fact that very careful rules have been worked out with the governing bodies of rugby, netball etc so that their professional teams can play.

That might be schools but she said today that sport can take place as long as complies with gathering rules and the gathering rules limit it to 10 in a group. I read that as more than 10 mixing it up on a field are out for the time being anyway

Just had an update from 2 German sailors, they've sailed around the world in tandem, one watches, the other sleeps, 4 hours all change, the other skipper / yacht takes over! They have arrived in the Azores from the Caribbean, Horta in lockdown, 2 day stay only, unless you need urgent repairs, then you can apply for an extension. They reported 4 days of dead calms, and 2-1/2 days of force 8 to 10. Both have damage with blown out sails and broken battens amongst the repairs they need to make.

Similarly friends are sailing boat from Antigua back to Portsmouth have just stopped off in Horta to re-fuel. Not allowed ashore but can get fuel and wait out the weather at anchor. One of the few places that they can stop off. Big push at the moment for yachts to get out of the Caribbean before Hurricane season to keep their insurance valid. They also picked up some random crew wanting to head to the UK since flights have stopped in Antigua.
