Fish 0
To follow up on a comment of Becarra's in one of those political threads, I'll put some effort into more sailing talk around here, hence a random sailing thread. This weekend is the Weiti Boating Club's 50th Jubilee. Fairly big deal, a true members club, literally built by the members, 50 years ago this year. On Sunday, as part of the celebrations, is the Commodores Cup Race, starting midday. Its a 'cruising race' (no extra's) no entry fee and has a choice of two very short courses, 6 nm or 9 nm. I'm hoping to see a massive fleet of random boats all gathered together for a 'race' (although I don't expect the racing to be very stressful) - it would sure be good to see a big fleet of nice average cruising and club racing boats. Unfortunately the forecast isn't ideal with rain and light winds (i.e. no wind). Feel free to post random sailing posts...
Timberwolfy 62
Jack Tar this weekend down in Auckland. I'm excited, in spite of the forecast! I'm trying to get in the water to scrub (okay, scrape...) my own hull before the 3 singlehanded races to/around Kawau on easter weekend. Hoping Happy Teeth doesn't make an appearance
Black Panther 1,591
Hey fish are you going to the dine and dance tomorrow?
Fish 0
What are the single handed races to / around Kawau? Always good to hear about the short handed / single handed races, proper personal challenge for the sailors, and a reasonable growth area in popularity and participation

Fish 0
Hey fish are you going to the dine and dance tomorrow? No, but will be at the club on Sunday for either the Childrens entertainer or the Commodores race (or both)
Fish 0
North Harbour IOM Champs at Gulf Harbour, Regency Lake or Hobbs Wharf. What time? Always been fascinated by that, and it could potentially raise the interests of my kids...
Black Panther 1,591
Not quite sailing. But why is bait sold in plastic bags??
Beccara 25
What would you rather it be sold in?
Fish 0
Not quite sailing. But why is bait sold in plastic bags?? I think its sold in plastic bags so you don't get bait on your fingers carrying it to the car.
Priscilla II 392
Bit like bodies what else could you store and transport them in.
Fish 0
Who's going sailing this weekend?
Black Panther 1,591
Something that doesn't end up in the water for 100000 years.paper? Biodegradable plastic. Fabrics. reusable containers.
John B 106
Sideways thinking here, but fish would be quite a good thing to carry bait in. Comes out of the water prepackaged in a sort of slimy covering. Its where I get mine, but you do have to own some really small hooks with little wings on them and be prepared to stay up late , like 8 or 9 PM , to get them.
Priscilla II 392
Bloody packaging dont get me started. You can understand how Graeme Hart makes his pile. Worst packaging offender in my book is printer ink cartridges quickly followed by soap. Now take our own containers to Happys Takeaways for Friday nite tucker but means no online ordering. B00B00 310
Well if we are talking random yachting... Finally got the atlantic crossing video online. If you want to see what its like crossing an ocean with 3 kids under 10 then have a look. We are now in the BVI and will be departing for Panama shortly after the BVI spring regatta. Won our division of the Heineken regatta in St Marten last month. Part one Part two
