Zozza 293
Having tossed out the idea of a fancy teak and holly cabin sole, I am tossing up either painting it with a non-skid, or some sort of interior carpet. My worry about the carpet on the cabin sole is the obvious - cleaning, rotting and smelling. Anyone know a good brand that they have laid down on their interior cabinsole? Zozza 293
Thanks native Im looking for a carpet I can cut to shape but not glue down or anything, so if it turns out to rot or too hard to clean, I can just pick it up and toss it out and think of something new. Bradz 18
We went with an Autex product, latex backed. It was easy to cut to shape and stays in place pretty well. When it get dirty, wet etc pull it out, hose it down, let it dry and back in the boat. Been in a year now, still looks new.
harrytom 648
We used that rolled carpet type stuff from burnsco,,easy to cut/fit lift out to dry, does not rot, Tended to leave lifted when not onboard as can/does feel damp when boat locked for a week.
Fish 0
We've had carpet onboard for years. Just looking at replacing it now. I think the main rule is to get synthetic. Not wool. No wool derivatives. No wool blends. Just outright synthetic. My understanding is that this also happens to be the cheaper stuff in the household lines
Ex Machina 368
Just chucked out burnsco stuff , took ages to to work out where the fine silty mud in the cabin was coming from . It was carpet breaking down into very fine brown dust then silt when it got wet
Dtwo 157
Solution dyed nylon. Un-stainable and yet, nice underfoot.
gisywaterboy 4
I put down some of that wood look alike Lino in my last boat, looked great, easy to clean, good grip. Carpet shops usually sell offcuts of the stuff cheap.
Priscilla II 395
Had normal domestic grade carpet on our cabin sole for yonks. Made a thin cardboard pattern and gave it to my carpet supplier. All edges and floor frame cutouts professionally overlocked and still in good nick.

Sail Rock 28
Had nylon carpet on cabin sole for years. One long piece sewn together and held down with dome snap fasteners. Lift it up at end of season, hose it down, dry it and it is good to go again. Much more pleasant to walk on in bare feet than damp, salty floor boards. Also less slippery when underway.
