Kick Ass 47
Fresh water pump on our 3gm30 bearings have gone and can hear the the impellor blades hitting the housing. Rebuild or replace? If replace is there anywhere to buy reasonably priced parts for Yanmars?
harrytom 643
try saeco for bearings/seals
Priscilla II 392
“If replace is there anywhere to buy reasonably priced parts for Yanmars? “ Well that’s a oxymoron if there ever was one. Pretty vital piece of kit so best just to sell a body part to fund a new one. Mate just did a new Yanmar fuel pump and hose and two weeks later still looking pale. Kick Ass 47
Mine needed a new water pump, so I just replaced the engine. I take it yanmar parts are that expensive! What did you replace the engine with?
Fish 0
We've just replaced with a Beta. The guy next door is now replacing his with a Beta (from a Volvo I think). Can find spares on any digger or tractor lying around (being a Kubota base). Bit of a contrast to Yanmar. A few years ago (5?) we refurb our old water pump, which was an original by Lees. Cost was in the order of $1,
formula 2
did a rebuild on a 3jh2tce was pricey but the major components rings bearings gasket set were reasonable. it was the small things that were really expensive.like injector lines and oil sensor. the fresh water pump was $714+gst (ouch)
Kick Ass 47
Check your housing that all is good. ie bearing housings + cam seat. I've had good success on fleabay. Do your homework though. Full wp rebuild kit for $150. Torrensens used to be good and cheaper, but can't find them anymore. They are now TOAD marine. Dunno whether you still have to be in the area for them to ship. I get my stuff through my Daughter in Ma. Found TOAD marine but they just have gaskets and seals, i will pull the pump off today for inspection then hopefully source some parts locally to rebuild. Kick Ass 47
Heading to Muzzas water pumps tomorrow, quoted $140-$160 for a rebuild vs a quote of $900 +gst for a new pump :-/. Thanks IT
straycat 7
If rebuilding SaecoWilson will match size of any seal oring and bearing. They will happily replace metal oring in seals with rubber if you tell them it is for marine use. Their parts are from Japanese manufacturers who supply to Yanmar anyway. Price wise they are very cheap.

Sail Rock 28
I’ve sourced various Yanmar parts from UK in recent years -heaps cheaper than here, even allowing for P&P.
