  1. Fixed topmast backstay and a squaretop main? That is a recipe for an expensive day on the water. You need masthead runners if you plan to use masthead spinnakers and a squaretop main. You could reef the main so it clears the backstay?

  2. I presume you mean the PYBC. I think you will have to become a member to use the facilities and dinghy lockers. There have been several live aboards up around there over the years. Be prepared for a few sleepless nights when you get a good blow from the s/west.

Looks like too much topmost backstay probably only need to use this with masthead gear on Also you may need to reef a lot earlier than you think with that squaretop main, bring it down to height of forestay at as low as 12-15 knots (it is a Ross boat after all, they go best standing up) Also if you’ve only just bought it don’t trust that the rig and sail are setup for each other

  4. Agree. Surface tension and the structure of the ply tends to suck water up the wood pores, often quite a long way from the initial problem For peace of mind, after getting back to dry ply, I would put an internal tingle over the area, then you know you are bulletproof.
