    New Boat

After selling the Carpenter last January and over a year of looking we finally have our new boat. We sailed Vivaldi up to Gulf Harbour yesterday Great sail and we’re having fun just getting to know all the boat’s systems. how do I post a picture here?
  2. Does anyone know of one that works out at the Eastern Suburbs?
  3. I see he’s trying to sell a rust ridden caravan now!
  4. So is the general convention that a 40 foot boat is taken as a 12m? Or do the marines enforce this rigidly. Seems to me that a 40 footer should be able to go on a 12m berth as they are there or thereabouts. It would seem quite wasteful to have to put a 40 footer on a 13.5m berth!
  5. Hmm. That extra .2 of a metre makes it a bit costly then
  6. Thanks, I’m thinking gulf harbour. Currently have a 10.5 there.
  7. Hi, I have a question for the Farr 1220 or Farr Phase IV owners - are you able to keep them on a 12m marina berth, or do you have to go next size up? cheers

    Wright 11

Yes - that’s the other part of the equation - I’d have to sell my 10.5 and get a 12....

    Wright 11

Yes you are right about the comparisons, and some good points too re the repairs. The reason I asked bout the 1220s was there was a few on the market a while ago for a similar price so was weighing that up - but then again the 1050s are in a similar range. My preference is the 1050 but there just aren’t any available, and the wright ticks a lot of boxes in terms of what my wife and I have thought would be nice to have on a cruising boat: Bimini Furling main Freezer Shower. Most of our sailing is cruising, but I do like something that sails well, and would do the occasional race. It’s a ha

Do we know how long ago this was? They are wanting a top end price in todays market and I wonder about the future state of the internal cabinetry, electronics, engine etc.

Wow - that’s interesting. Wonder what state the engine is in then....... You always found out some good stuff in the forums

    Wright 11

Hi All, Does anyone know much about the Wright 11. From what I can see they look like a pretty good large volume cruiser. How would they compare pricewise against a good Farr 1220? Performance? I’ve seen a couple around (Mystic Lass, Tuxedo Junction) but there doesn’t appear to be too many around.....
  13. Yes that’s right. They belonged to Gary Elliott, 1st two Ross 930s, then the Ross 1066. Gary’s now cruising in a Given Powercat - also called Margaritaville, and has bought back the original Wasted Away and racing it again. Would love to own the 1066 - slightly out of the budget though.
  14. I see that Margaritaville is for sale again. I think it was only sold about 2 seasons ago. Wondering why for sale so soon. https://www.trademe.co.nz/trade-me-motors/boats-marine/yachts/keeler/auction-2194946997.htm
  15. KM - I’ve been watching this thread and seeing you and Fish having the odd crack at each other as it went on (and by the way I agree with you that it’s difficult to determine who is in the wrong without the detail of timing and some other variables) but I don’t think it’s fair to say that IT has had a crack at you - I always find his posts to be very considered and reasonable. IT adds a huge amount of knowledge to this forum. Let’s treat him with the respect he deserves.
  16. NZL20 is still sitting up at Gulf Harbour

    Young 11

Hi, I just have a question on the Young 11. The Young 88 is 8.94m and the 99 is 10.34m. Does anyone know the actual length of the Young 11?

  19. 10.5 marina at Gulf Harbour for rent - available from now until we get a new boat. $500 per month direct from us, or you can deal direct with Gulf Harbour office for slightly more. Marina is J36. Nice and handy about half way down. Left hand finger on northern side.
  20. I’m just on 6 foot and can get around easily in the cabin - and can stand at full height while cooking on a Carpenter 29.. have to crouch in the areas forward of the bulkhead though. I’m biased but the Carpenter is the best out of the three - open transom makes a huge difference when cruising and they sail well, nice and stiff boat for a family
