  1. Anybody know the story of the rebuild of witch doctor? And how the boat performs now?
  2. Commercial fishers won't be chased until MPI is changed. An easy fix for reviewing the footage would be if it was online. Volunteers would happily review it and identify dodgy practices.
  3. some strong old stewarts generally, but skinny old rudder stocks esp where stainless should be checked.
  4. Yes, been trying there, but a mix of now gone and depth/weight issues. Tks.
  5. for a Nova 28. Would consider rent or buying. Cheers.

    Nova 28

Query about Novas and rig tension/tuning, and this seems as good a place as any! I'm helping a friend get a Nova ready for summer (his first summer), and want to tune the rig. Does anybody know what sort of tension we should be looking at on caps and on lowers? Are they run fairly slack or...? Thanks in advance for any info. Cheers
  7. the Deltas are good - move well, big payload and not too heavy (although as a result not as sturdy as seabirds). hard to fit on a lot of decks.
  8. It's not far to row, so why not just ditch the donk? i'd say it was ankle deep at low tide on sunday.
  9. Boat looks nice. You were nearly completely dry on the mooring at low tide in the weekend.

    impreza

Thanks, but I don't know who Charlie is, and having got no response from the vendor to my question on the auction, all I know is that it doesn't have a mast!

    impreza

Does anybody know more about the design/condition/performance of impreza?

    Matapouri Bay

I am a few miles from there right now and it is as calm as anything. Until there's a groundswell or easterly I think it's a great time to try out normally rolly spots.

I don't have a problem with the plywood main hull, Harddrive. The boat moves, and the cost/benefit calculus of rebuilding is prohibitive. Also, is there a faster plywood hard chined hull on earth? Ed, yes, cost of replicating would be shocking, but I think the big price factor is not cost of building, but that full foiling has arrived. I'm not knocking these three - they're all great, and I'm seriously interested in this sort of boat, and will probably be a buyer at the right price. But I won't be comparing purchase price to cost of building, because the next generation of racing mult

I'm interested in this too - relative performance and relative risk of snapping a mast/ama/something!

    Flat Chat

Anybody know where Flat Chat is now, and whether it sold when last on the market? Ditto Careless Intent, actually. Cheers
  20. Looking for a structurally sound and ready to sail beach cat. Not for racing, just blasting. Well be kept on a tidal mooring for a few weeks at a time so watertight hulls important, and cosmetics not. Am in Birkenhead. Cheers.

    This way up

Interested in hearing about This Way Up. Which boats does she compete against, current state, and whether cruised/cruisable? Cheers
  22. So not much direct feedback on rot. Two more questions: - assume it can't keep up with the 8.5 fleet? - can you sleep inside or too cramped? - what's it like in heavy weather? That's three questions...
  23. Anybody know how much work is required to get her into shape?
