  1. sh*t imagine a retirement village with a marina ….I bet a few people would live there well before retirement age
  2. I serviced two last year and was horrified to find the cylinders had completely unscrewed themselves in both PFDs after 3 years . Regular checks are now on the cards
  3. Haha ! I was out possum shooting when the very first one went over …I didn’t know what it was and shat myself , rushed home and got on the internet found out what it was and calmed down . My first thought was they were missles 😂
  4. He will have to “give up” his dream motorcycle to get into sailing again and vice versa
  5. It has its shortcomings but it makes it way easier for the handicappers to have a number to bang in to the system rather than pulling a number out of the hat based on hearsay or guess work .
  6. Ah right northcote point . Pleased to inject some humour into your morning ex Elly 😂
  7. Remind me again where in northcote you can moor a boat ? I grew up on the north shore but don’t recall northcote having anything other than a creek or two
  8. This is for quick turn around mate not a slow cooker scenario ….can just see the lime eating the liner as some poor sod leaves a trail of crap and sawdust through my boat on the way to heaving it 😳
  9. Bit of a drift ….this is quite interesting but has its limitations of course . Would really only make sense with LifePo4 batteries with the massive amount of current being produced for short periods . https://boattest.com/integrel-an-alternative-to-a-generator
  10. I haven’t been swimming in it yet but I imagine unless you have built in floatation like some of the Baltic jackets expect to have a tough time swimming in any wet weather gear ….always wear a PFD if you put your foulies on
  11. Yeah cornstarch bin liner and Manuka sawdust ….havent tried it yet though ! I have vey low opinion of portapotti type units 😬
  12. Yes . I have their stormforce gear that is now my round the farm and work gear and have a set of prototype sailing gear that I’ve been trialling with them . Both sets of gear do not leak , the storm force range is very tough but a bit agricultural looking . The prototype gear is a bit lighter and more ergonomic and the zips are waterproof etc . One thing I got them to develop is bib overalls with an opening for blokes to take piss out of . My boat doesn’t have a toilet se wee have to piss off the transom …if you are in full kit this means taking pfd off , then jacket then bib off last
  13. Whangarei looks like it may be the next haulout hub . But the old port area is undergoing some suburbanisation …it could go the same way as Beaumont street in the future
  14. Ah feck it’s our favourite marina for staying when we come down for racing in dorkland
  15. What suit will you be wearing ? 🤣
  16. Styrene ! Good luck finding some , dunno if it’s common any more .
  17. Trying to remember what we used 30 years ago for thinning polyester , it was the same stuff you put in to stop it being sticky once gone off …zylene ? Or something similar sounding . It was called “wax” on the factory floor
  18. Who’s going ? Entries opened today . Hope it’s a big turn out this year after a couple of years of major disruption to the racing calendar
  19. And what would it have cost to drag the ship off the sand at matakana ?
  20. I don’t know anything about your boat but a quick search Of the sail number confirms it is one of these . hard to know what is worth without seeing it but these older 70s trailer boats have a ceiling of around 6-8k in good condition with a legal trailer .
  21. What about an app called “todays pillock “ you could upload the pillock of the day and other app users could keep an eye out and apply pressure to said pillock if they continue to be a pillock
  22. Sleek looking boat Martin … very little rocker by the looks . What’s the design and where’s the keel/ centreboard ?
  23. I can see two peeps in the cockpit , one standing and one sitting . Looks like a D28 or a salthouse 26 . Dunno what they were smoking to not hear or see that bearing ship down upon their asses
