  1. Is thornburrow your local ? I’ve heard good things about the young chap who took over , from people who have worked with him .
  2. Yeah that’s the rub , if you don’t have waterfront or a yacht club with parking and launching it doesn’t make sense to put a big boat on a trailer ….unless you are in the USA
  3. Well , with a swing keel your pogo would realistically sit on a launching trailer ….on your front lawn in KK , big 4WD or a tractor would launch it
  4. The first warehouse I remember was on a back street in Takapuna and was a bit like an emporium style shop ….was that the first store ?
  5. I find resenes lack of promotion of Durepox promotion in the marine market mystifying . I too only recently found out about it , maybe they sell enough in other markets that advertising in the marine market doesn’t matter .
  6. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/boats-marine/yachts/keeler/listing/3590684890?bof=zy0OOZAv his best sales pitch yet !
  7. There’s a cheap melges 40 on trademe at the moment 😂 ….but it doesn’t come with the team van
  8. We have about 50 trailer yachts at our club and the ones with those rollers have permanent dimples in the hull . The Noelex’s have rollers for the keel
  9. The top end rigs plus the tow vehicle would put you at the pointy end of the Auckland keeler fleet …not sure if it would pay for the team van as well though ?
  10. I used to be an obsessive plunderer of fish , especially kingfish . I would be happy with 1 kingfish , 1 snapper and 1 kahawai . Even then that would be far more than my family “needed” . If you “need” more take more people on the boat . Recreational fishing is a first world “want” for the vast majority of people in this country ….the cost of an average tinny would feed a residential street on bought salmon , tuna and scallops for a few years . Average tinny round here would be 100k .
  11. I just read the rest of the thread I found that on at SA and it got torn to pieces there too . Very good discussion on the thread especially about induction cooktops and battery/charging systems to support them
  12. I’m not qualified to comment on this but it’s an interesting take on lithium mishaps from this guys perspective . https://loosecannon.substack.com/p/youre-not-qualified-to-have-li-batteries?s=r
  13. Mk2 Corsair launches had a VE tie coat below the water line . Very light chopstrand layer was used , smelt like cat crap and thick syrupy consistency made it hard to work with .
  14. No idea mate but I assume you would have a wide range to choose from . I have black and grey on my boat , black on the prod and grey go-faster on the bottom
  15. But we do have this stuff . They seem to do very little market targeting of the marine segment . Amazing stuff really almost a one paint does all . Bit of a backyard hack can be done with this too according my mate , you can mix west sanding/fairing powder with it and use it as high build primer too and very easy to sand . https://www.resene.co.nz/archspec/products/durepox.htm
  16. sh*t , the second low on Sunday/Monday might pack a punch too . Didnt notice that one earlier
  17. What platform ? Windys ECMWF forecast has it sliding right past our and and your lounge room windows just off the coast
  18. Well done mate it was a looong race
  19. Is matewa the XP44 that got seized by a marina somewhere in Auckland and sold to defray outstanding hard stand fees ? They are having a good race . omega and titanium have done really well for under 40 foot . I can currently see pacific Sundance and kick duking it out just off the coast with cracked sheets , bloody horrible small but lumpy sea with all the breeze changes in the last couple of days from south to east and back a few times in between .
  20. Wired is out front here now on the horizon mid way between toots and Whangarei heads . omega is also doing well with a big come from behind in the early hours
  21. Has anyone seen 150N solid vests before ? I intensely dislike the inflatables and don’t quite trust them to inflate in winter if I go overboard in full kit . Flotation jackets look interesting but $$$ and not 150N
  22. Yes live sail die would’ve been all over it with nice photos of the big budget boats
  23. Bloody thing only updates every 30 mins …still waiting to see the start
