Light green would look nice on your gaffer..... Available standard #5 just not the plus version.

I just received an interesting reply regarding antifouling colours from Altex. I used the green standard #5 last bottom paint and it looks really nice, I then learned the #5 Plus is available in Green in Australia, but not in NZ... strange? I enquired why and was told.."With antifoul we are restricted by the government agencies that regulate this area the green Antifoul #5+ is an Australian formulation only and has only been authorised for sale in Australia. Unfortunately this product has not been approved for sale in New Zealand." Does that mean the different colours are different

Is that the Altex Plus?... with extra copper?

Use proper nylon tube like the stuff you can buy from ultraflex or a major hydraulic manufacturer. The aim is for minimal elasticity to stop the steering feeling spongy, there are also hydraulic hoses that do fit the bill but tend to me more expensive. But if you do change to Hose or tube, make sure it is well protected from chaff. Me, given a choice would use stainless tube with hoses at the ram end.

Starbrite Teak oil there, and I do use quite a bit, but I also use run of the mill Tung oil also. First coat diluted 50% with turps... oils are not a long lasting solution as it then needs a light reapply every couple of months... easy done and less work than sanding and multi coat varnish every couple of years. Sheltered it lasts much longer, wet sanding with 1200 grit and 50% diluted on interior work, results in the smoothest finish, and the sanding dust fills small cavities. Wet sanding with 220 grit works good on exterior also, especially on cracked end grain.

Before and after... Whittled away at a nice straight seasoned teak plank, ending up with nice looking set of companion way boards.., to replace the white ones which never looked pleasing.

I will wait until I have had a read of the guides I have coming from Bad Kitty then will decide if I should grab a Pickmeres... although Alibabas offer is tempting
-
Thanks... I have an arrangement with Bad Kitty for a couple of guides and might also chase up a Pickmeres.

I can do that.... I will be home from work 1 March... Will pm you... Trust me to select the wine?

Any recommended "must have onboard guidebooks" for the area Auckland north including islands and Coromandel
-
I was talking about a 2-3 month holiday staying on board exploring that part of the country... one bay to another as the mood takes me. I would grab a marina if I had to leave unattended for a few days.

Okay, thanks for that...

looking to spend 2-3 months cruising between Auckland/Whitianga north to the cape. Are there any affiliated clubs or network of moorings that one can join for access to moorings up the east coast and islands? (Like we have top of the South with the Pelorus/Waikawa bay/Mana clubs)
