Google Translate refers to a "broken bar" and I wasn't sure whether to interpret that as the tiller or boom. Yeah another case in point was the 49erFX medal race where the Austrians were heading for gold with an 11 point lead, capsized on the last upwind in a big right shift autotack, finished the race last and dropped to silver overall behind the Dutch. Anyone know how the Aero is selling in NZ? Certainly looks like a cool boat at a pretty reasonable price.

Others will likely have more insight into rigs on boats the size of yours, but at least in smaller boats, leeward sag would be expected upwind, yes? What makes you feel it's excessive? Downwind, what are you doing with your mainsheet? This acts as your backstay. Again I can really only speak for smaller cats but it's extremely important to have enough tension there to avoid risking the integrity of your mast. I'm curious why so many NZ boats are built with cedar core. Everyone I speak to seems leery of them because of the potential for water absorption in the event of skin penetration. Thoughts?

Some more details from the club commodore at a press conference this morning... he was moving toward the stern to make a routine sail adjustment when "a large wave hit the boat causing him to slip into the water". He was wearing an inflatable PFD but the crew have reported that it failed to inflate.
