    Mangroves

Yes there is a species of mangrove exclusive to NZ,mangroves grow north of Tauranga from memory. They provide a habitat for fish to hide, unlike the tropics etc where fish actually come in to the shallows to breed,They do not do this in NZ. The thought was fresh water killed them when cut and rots the roots but how do explain the ones growing by the old Kopu bridge in Thames in a paddock??they have clear most from Pahurehure lagoon but some greenie claims to of found a foot print in the mud from an endangered bird, Most of the mangroves have gone and the silicone sand beach is returning. But

    Keel bolts

may need a retighten once in the water,at the moment(if out of the water) the hull is resting on the keel, once in the water keel will be hanging with no weight so may need a retighten. The person who brought my wreck has removed the keel and replaced bolts 1 4 5 6 7 8 2 and 3 is a s/s u bolt fitted at pouring and this is the bolt that broke a nut off,did suggest drilling a new bolt alongside but seems happy to refit with by cutting thread off and welding new one on.

  20. I often looked at "war paint" but could never find a user ,Tried "Hempels" in Tamaki river but found to soft, went to "Altex 10" but no longer available. So thought about it and tried the "Altex coastal cruising" and found for an inexpensive paint it was working, applied in labour weekend 2017 and beginning of January looked new ,when yacht came out of water January there was only very slight slime, not bad for river,so guessing might of got 6 months before needing a clean but will never know now.
