  1. Best Fini times I know of : 2016, Frank Racing/TVs: 02 11:41:03 2016, Giacomo : 02 22:53:19 2005, Konica Manolta : 03 10:47:40
  2. No direct knowledge but if the usual first Saturday of July, August and September that isn't a squaddy winter day applies, that would make it 8 July, 5 August and 2 Sept
  3. Working off memory of prize giving here so apologies for ommissions and errors. Overall line + multi line : Timberwolf overall h'cap + single handed : That Girl div A1, line : Outrageous Fortune, h'cap No worries, Thirsty Work (2nd), Fun n Games (3rd) div A2: line and h'cap Elevation, apologies can't remember, possibly Big Bikkies and Faster coyote single handed, line Max, h'cap That Girl, Multi : : h'cap Pulse and I think 2 of Ten Don't ever recall a race with more zero to hero to zero moments. At least three restarts. Basically a light but eventually dominant SW breeze fighting a NE se
  4. Closest to needing a raft would have been a couple of multi flips in the last 10 years or so but I'm fairly sure in all those cases people stayed with the upturned hull. I'd look at it another way though. IMO, once the wind is peaking over about 50kts or so, things, often exciting and unpredictable start to happen. There are a couple of examples of broken rudders causing sufficient damage to drive people to rafts, though typically not so fast that a rescue boat wouldn't pick them up first in a coastal event. Once you're in conditions of peaks over the 50-ish knots then I think a raft start
  5. KM, scored using base passage PHRF. SSANZ gave themselves the option to move the division boundaries to fit actual entries into 'sensible' groups, but by the looks, boundaries are : 910 and above, div 1 865 to 909, div 2 790 - 864, div 3 under 790 div 4 Think they did a pretty good job with the groupings.
  6. hmmm, you know it's light when checking the tide times seems a good idea. All the best to those racing, if you haven't seen the tide times, don't look, you really don't want to know.
  7. Better you don't circulate a list of the owners though Rawhide, if he sees that he may even be reduced to buying a 930
  8. Ratings, I know you're a fan of IRC and not one of PHRF, the below is how the land currently lies though. - There are only 20 odd boats in NZ with IRC, excluding the offshore boats. - IRC nationals, three divisions offered, ended up with one division, three TP52s competing - RNI, only two boats with valid certificates from 28 boats - the Gold Cup sited, 28 boats but only 4 with IRC and only three regular For all practical purposes IRC iss dead here. Keeping in mind the useful observation that if you keep trying the same things don't be surprised if you keep getting the same result, wh
  9. Fish, the info I have on the FastNet would indicate division 5 has been merged with division 4 ( from results for the last five races, only the Sigma 38 and to a lesser extent the Sigma 33 have had significant class presence for designs prior to 1990 and those classes are way down in numbers for the last two races. Using the most recent couple of races, your typical Fastnet boat is a First 40, First 40.7 or J109. What I'm seeing is good growth in European production boats (yeah I know J Boats read J boats Europe for that) typically around the 10-15 years old. One of the interesting thin
  10. KM, you may be able to prove the boats been safe for 12 years, but can you prove it actually still floats? When are the greater Auckland race fleets once again to be graced with the presence of the mighty Reptile anyway?
  11. Zenith and there are those who may argue even Truxton, guess that comes down to whether Tauranga is an outer suburb of Auckland or Wellington
  12. It is certain, technically in just over an hour but to win, Maluka would have to average about 130kts which would seem just a little improbable.
  13. 53 entries by my count, as below, let's know if I've missed anyone Short Course : 17:45 Nocturne 17:45 Serene 17:46 Lightning 17:46 Sunset Sam 17:47 Hyperactive 17:52 Polaris 17:52 Revolution Blues 17:52 Morgana 17:53 Bondi Tram 17:53 Mindbender 17:54 Hot Gossip II 17:54 Urban Escape 17:56 Patiko 17:56 Real Deal 17:56 Space Station 17:56 Sonic 17:57 Babe 17:57 Drop Dead Fred 17:58 Hotdogger 17:58 Oracle 17:58 Predator 17:58 Tazzy Devil 17:59 Duty Free 17:59 Elliphunk 18:00 Psyche II 18:01 Harken 18:02 Hard Labour 18:03 Shrek's House 18:03 The Entertainer 18:04 Chain Reaction 18:04
  14. 18:02 Hard Labour It would have been 17:45 if you'd entered on time
  15. I don't know Dambo, do you think your buggered sails will last that long?
  16. I know but their are limits. I blame the sailmakers
  17. Should also have said if you believe you've entered but haven't received an acknowledging email from me and/or your boat name isn't in the above, please email me at mmulcare@xtra.co.nz
  18. Hi people, Well, this year it seems to be a case of deja vu all over again, similar forecast, similar uncertainty in the forecast but hopefully a pretty spectacular evening to be on the water. Best guess for the forecast is a north easterly kicking in later in the afternoon of around 15kts which should be just about perfect, hopefully the weather gods will do the honourable thing and stick with the forecast. As with last year, we'll run two courses, 8.9nm for most and 11.3 for a few of the quicker boats. Particularly for those starting last on the short course or first on the long
  19. You mean you'd taken it off?

  21. There can surely be only one theme : Happy Teeth
  22. Wish the best for Colman but I can't say I'm a fan of his boat, still if something can be got out of it then Colman may be one of the people who can get it out. He won't be last. My guess for winner is BP8 but it's easy to see 5 of the 6 new boats not making it so you'd have to think the lucky one from that group and maybe Vincent RIOU on PRB all have a shot.
  23. Think I got the below a while back from the NoR Elly : 1A - 0.960 and above 1B - 0.870 - 0.959 2 - 0.810 - 0.869 3 - 0.765 - 0.809 4 - 0.750 - 0.764 5 - up to 0.749 I think the organisers made a slight variation to put all Ross 930s in 4 but otherwise, think the above is right.
  24. Swartie, The limitation of gender was in the Notice of Race, which is precisely where it should be. It isn't the responsibility of an organising authority to ensure anyone putting in an entry is going to comply with restrictions of a notice of race and reject an entry based on that. This ignores such things as assuming a persons gender based on their name. It is the responsibility of participants to read the notice of race and ensure that they can comply with it before they enter. This is very basic, so basic at the level of the World Sailing Cup that I can only conclude that this person
