Coaxial connectors can vary a lot in quality Jaycar stuff is rubbish manufactured in China it doesn't take solder very wel and tolerances can be shonky at times. I tend to stick with amphenol connectors and have imported them for my own use from RF Parts and another American company called AES Amateur Electronic Supply.

The volume of dredging would greatly exceed the volume in the proposed reclamations. The Remember the dredgings are not only just the marina but also the approach channel. I think getting the locals to support a project like this will be an issue, I just can't see the sandal wearing tree huggers going along with it, let alone alone the local Iwi. Dinghy looks like a Seabird 2.6, a few things don't add up, Bucks often has dinghies stored on the beach but not usually with the oars, one would assume she would need those to get to the island, was there any oars in the boat when it was found or any left on the beach. Discounting swimming there would probably be on the assumption that she was in dry clothes. The distance is an easy swim from Musick Point at low tide, in fact you can walk most of the way.

A point to remember is that none of the connectors are waterproof or for that matter even rain proof so heat shrink plus a good wrapping of rubber self amalgamating tape for uv protection is required. I just think that being a looney tune might be the reason she was put ashore there in the first place. We used to wade and swim across there from Musick Pt as kids only deep parts are the two channels which are an easy swim. The whole episode leads me to believe there is more to it than what we have heard.

Now days I would probably just have Prop speed applied, in those days clean up the shaft and prop using battery drill and bronze wire brush and apply the primer straight away. It was so good that after six months once you cleaned the fouling off you could touch up any anti fouling that had come off.

In the days prior to Prop Speed I used to use a Lusteroid etch primer and put my hard antifouling on over that, that etch primer stuck like the proverbial.

Who did the design work I am interested in a similar project and was the bulb cast or was it CNC machined?

The lower loss cables such as the LMR series and Westflex cables are a two way win, more transmit power being delivered to the antenna and less attenuation (cable induced losses) of the received signal. Putting it simply this gives you a bigger mouth and better ears.

Another option in a smaller package is LMR-240 which has half the losses of RG-58. LMR-240 is only 6mm diameter.
