  3. Agree that any proposal to encourage live-aboards is good. i recently spoke to GH about this and they are actively trying to wind down to zero - their argument is wanting to be a ‘clean & green’ marina and they can never know 100% the toilet usage habits of liveaboards. I think that’s a poor argument which could be handled in other ways if you wanted to and if you truly recognised the other benefits of liveaboards - especially as passive security.

  4. In which case you will be wanting a brand new boat then. Every boat needs maintenance doesn't matter what it's made of in my experience, Steel rusts, Aluminium corrodes and paint flakes, Fibreglass gets cracks, dings, dents, chips and the pox, wood can rot or delam. Cold moulded boats seem to be pretty resilient. The hull is the lowest maintenance part anyway, there's engines, electrics, instruments, rigging, sails, sheets, safety gear, squabs, Galley, Heads and plumbing, other systems. Unless you buy into something like Yachtshare (which sounds like where you should be l

  5. Old. Wood. Carvel Planked. (1 1/4" NZ Kauri) High Maintenance. Thats my boat. 60 years old. 17 years into my ownership of her and never touched the hull, for any repair or maintenance that I can recall, mind you I am old too (70.s) and may be suffering from some memory loss. The timber hull, with no fancy glue just the plank seams calked in cotton allowing her natural sea water environment to keep her tight and dry. The way boats were meant to be built dry, warm and smelling sweet. I have never once had to dry out a cored deck, repair blisters on the hull, endure expensive osm

  6. Right, rather than debate the lock-down cruise or non-cruise have any Westhaven berthholders responded to the consultation on: a) Permitting non-recreational boats to use selected berths within the Marina; b) The introduction of a user pays regime for utilities in the Marina; c) Allowing berth holders to sublet their marina berths for 12 months or more; and d) Permitting "Live on Board" at Panuku's discretion. Responses due 5pm 14th April. Explanatory Note.pdf

  7. At 29 Pistol Pete has potentially 4 more AC campaigns ahead of him which would age him @ 46 compared to Ainslie who is presently 43. Adding to the chest of gold he has to date tucked under his bed another Olympic medal or two along with the Worlds and his total haul would give Long John Silver and his parrot a woody. Sale NZ your assumption the only Ainslie can push Coutts off his perch is as usual pretty damned laughable. Bubble on.
