Olympic results

It'll be close - likely better than London but somewhere in the middle of the heydays.

Overall that would be marked as successful - it's reversed the "trend" in Olympic results. That coupled with evidence of club membership numbers increasing slightly might mean the sport is growing slightly here . . . I'm sure the naysayers will jump in here so leaving the door wide open with pop corn and belies at the ready!

Very tight in the W470, with 4 boats chasing 2 medals.  Only 4 points separate them.  Team Jolly needs to have another blinder!

2. Jo Aleh/Polly Powrie (NZL) - 48 pts
3. Annie Haegar/Briana Provancha (USA) - 49 pts

Maloney and Mech take silver to make this our second best showing at the Olympics equalling Barcalona '92. Gotta be happy with that especially when you consider the shoddy umpiring A&P had to endure.

Why does Stuff continually add the words "Well Funded" when reporting on the NZ Olympic sailing team. All the other major sporting codes are well funded as well. The lefties don't like the "rich pricks in boats" do they?

Todays line...."The real drama for New Zealand came in the women's races as the well-funded team went on a medal hunt."

I googled "well funded" on Stuffs site and only these 3 stories came up.

Looks like we're pretty good at messing about in boats, and anything to do with Shots! 4 sailing medals and 3 kayak medals, not bad at all.

Plus a shooter and a couple of shotputters.
