    Anchor winch leak

If you really want to keep the chain locker the way you have it - couldn't you build a (sort of) dorade box that goes over the top of the winch when your sailing? It just clips on 2 sides to small teak blocks you could epoxy/screw to the deck? With clips the box would be quick to release (rather than bolts etc). Not really a dorade type, but just a 5 sided box with a base shape that follows the decks contours closely so it's as tight/waterproof as you can get it - could even rubber gasket the bottom edges/lips if need be. But I sense you're just trying to keep the majority of the water ou

    Covid 19 and liveaboards

We've been parked in Mahurangi, there's a little bit of coming and going visible. Wifey got back last Friday and we came directly to the boat. Quite a few calls from Police, texts for tracking and this morning we had a visit - well we could see each other with binos. All the Police we have spoken with have been a credit to their force and I have no complaints whatsoever.

    Covid 19 and liveaboards

If his role is what you say it is,then why not make a base for himself in Wellington, does not set a good precedent to the rest of the country. Alright for Bridges then its alright for me??The whole exercise is not to tie up emergency services in the event of accident. No one intends to have an accident but it happens.

    Covid 19 and liveaboards

Simon Bridges is the ONLY person in NZ will the power to question the Government, the poluce or anyone one else while we are in this Police state. His role in NZ today is massive and one could argue as big or bigger than the PM's. You are comparing Apples with the International Space Stations coffee maker.

  9. I would guess more than that but lots on moorings and not actually going out much. A boat on a mooring can be pretty cheap accommodation with not a lot of bills to pay. Much less expensive if you don’t need to keep it mobile.

    Covid 19 and liveaboards

The key point you’re missing is “how do they know?”. If a couple of visitors turn up at Fitzroy store how do they know the boaties are ‘clean & safe’ with 2-3 weeks of liveaboard isolation. Or maybe they came from the mainland yesterday? Or were part of a raft-up last week? We are a long way off having a certification system whereby someone carries a certificate to verify they are clean / immune / recovered / vaccinated etc. It will happen but not til next year.

  11. There are at least 6 posters in this thread that come across VERY much like they will not be happy until those who displease them are made to sew yellow stars on their wet jacket. It is very sad to see that after 2-3 weeks so many still have no understanding if what the govt needs to happen.
