  1. My 406G expired last year. I contacted GME and could have replaced the batteries for $240. New ones would have lasted 6 years. Did the maths and bought a new MT600G with 10 year batteries. Cost was around $40 per year for old unit with 6 years life, versus $40 per year for new unit with 10 year span.

  2. I took mine to the local police station, who then send it to Beacons NZ to be disposed of properly.

  3. Decision just been made, it’s an open division so won’t be split, if you want to change let us know as per above Next year we may have under 12.5m short course and over 11.5m medium course as this seems clearly to be what’s wanted, but it’s too late to change now that people have entered. Being over popular is a problem that we just need to suffer I guess

  4. We are having a meeting tonight so will identify these issues then contact entries over the next few days Plus if you think your in the wrong division or just want to change for any reason, contact Neil or email racing@ssanz.co.nz The system is automated and generates your entry on the data you fill in, we can and do edit all entries as required, however it’s easier to do this once we get most entered

  6. I have never seen Acetic Acid in the info for Salt Away. I had looked for the make up of it some years ago but could not find anything apart from detergent. The detergent could well be simply Glycol. In thius case, detergents act mainly as a " wetting" agent. Reducing surface tension and allowing the Water to " attach" to surfaces. If acetic acid that is the case, I scratch my head as to how the "corrosion protectant" part is supposed to work. Plus Acetic Acid is a poor choice for cleaning crud in Salt Envirnoments. And in saying that, Phosphoric would work, but is not a lot better. Alt

  8. This is probably the most thoroughly detailed and researched NZ sailing book ever.

  9. Don't get fooled. There is no Chemical that will disolve Salt better than Clean fresh water. It is head and shoulders above any other Chemical. Forget the Chemical "Protectants" like Salt-away and all the rest. They are nothing but a detergent and actually do very little. Certainly nothing as good as plain ole fresh water. Those products are all a rip off because they are just simple cheap forms of a detergent that are sold as some special miracle Salt eliminator.
