  1. I think it is stupid that all other users of that entrance, that is all the existing users now have to stop and give way to a new user. I don’t know how this happened.
  2. The Herald article say we should call biosecurity NZ if we see one. Should we call them and let hem know they are all over the Auckland Marina structures etc Keep them busy.
  3. This is from the summary report: sufficiently clear space to allow vessel maneuvering, effects less than minor. 8.9NAVIGATION Navigatus Consulting has prepared a Navigation Safety and Utility Report (Attachment 16). The report has considered the navigational requirements for the proposed use by the fishing and ferry industry. These requirements include water depth, vessel manoeuvring, berthage and navigation aids and general public safety.Whilst the FIR will be built adjacent to the eastern entrance to Westhaven marina, the associated structures will not impinge on the existing fairway
  4. Ha, they did a vessel movement count on the Friday morning of the Coastal Classic. Just one day and a Friday, even though it would be a busy one.
  5. From the navigation safety report: The Sealink ferries typically carry out four return journeys per day and the fishing fleet a similar number of daily movements. These voyages will increase the traffic using the boat harbour entrance. Given that Westhaven is a large, busy area, the effect of the relatively few additional vessel movements will be limited. So the effects will be limited, except they forgot to mention that they would stop the other boats moving!
  6. Hopefully in the weekend I will try and have a quick skim of the submissions etc. I am really interested in how they took account of the other thousands of users of that entrance. Due to where the big fullers ferry normally sits I have to almost come to a stop to see if anything is coming from the Z pier area.
  7. So I found some of the consent submissions. Sealink raise concerns about navigating and I think got the control concessions, lights etc. Who represented the rest of us?
  8. I am curious what process this went through. There must have been a consent issued to build the new docking etc. Was it non-notified? If it was notified who was told? How come the first we all seemed to know about it was when it first appeared in the Westhaven news two or three months ago?
  9. How can there be no sites, if it had a site to start with? Surely you can creep it 39m back to where it came from and there should still be a spot for it?
  10. I use cable ties. every 5m. leave the tail on.
  11. Ok, not sure if I am suffering from oldtimers memory, exiting and reentering Westhaven yesterday I could swear the clearance between the super yacht docks and the southern end of the inside edge of the break water had shrunk?? It looks like the super yacht berths have been extended to the north based on some newer looking wood on the edges. Am I correct or just losing my mind??
  12. If true that is crap. We have a good sized rubbish locker but I still like to use the barge. See this is how we get treated when we are rich pricks. Apparently the council has enough money for cross dressers at fashion week.
  13. So here are the helpful hints on how to make sure the Sealink ferries don't have any problems obstructing the existing 2000+ users of what will soon be the only entrance. https://www.westhaven.co.nz/sealink/ So we already have the ferries coming in and out to refuel and dock, no traffic lights or 100 meter exclusion zone. Why do do we need one for these? Why is their loading zone being setup perpendicular to the entrance?
  14. I live less than 1km from our berth and heard absolutely nothing that night. To then see the outcome and those video stills shows just how localized it really was
  15. Went to check our boat yesterday morning. Was just bloody lucky in that it went through about 4 berths away. Hard to describe the damage. Spoke to a guy who was onboard his yacht at the time and also just on the edge of it. Sounds like it was mayhem and thanks to him and the staff many boats were retrieved and tied back up. Seeing relatively new mooring cleats ripped out of the marina is pretty eye opening.
  16. I have had an encounter with them on the San Francisco harbour during fleet week. You do not want to mess with them, especially when they come at you with their craft with its bow mounted machine gun.
  17. Exactly, existing users, 2000 almost, but hey they are going to put traffic lights up for us. Wait until the other entrance is closed, almost need a roundabout at the eastern end as it is.
  18. Panuku spend money on video, boat owners rejoice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4owXjY8u7s&feature=youtu.be At least they still showed our boats moored there, half expected it to be apartments. I love how the carpark expansion, required for the new berths gets called a "public space".
  19. https://www.westhaven.co.nz/westhaven-new/news-events/sealink-moves-to-westhaven/ Sealink coming to Westhaven entrance, make sure you all keep clear .....................
  20. Okay, I have another glass of wine, so off to look at the matching Panuku accounts again. Panuku have berthage hire of $12.486m, yes 3 times the lease fees. Know which part of the business I want . Unfortunately we cant see the management fee. Marinas are valued at $77.9m. They have the Viaduct as well as Westhaven.
  21. An assistant. I could be available .
  22. Okay, so I have the 30 June 2018 Westhaven Marina and extension Trust accounts - Westhaven Marina Limited. Revenue from annual charges was $4.386m or about $2200 per berth. Seems about right. But....where is all the rental income? Must be in Panuku's accounts. How much is it? Who knows, you cant see it. So Westhaven Marina Limited runs at about zero profit, after management fees of $604k. This is separate to staff costs of $777.8k which includes security. Does not seem enough when I count up the staff in their photo . I assume the management fee goes to Panuku. The refurb
  23. Great place to go. Everything within a very short walk. Supermarket, fuel, cafes, fishing supplies, dive bottle refill etc. There is water on the big wharf and fuel on the end. Only accessible close to full tide. You can even catch the ferry back to Auckland at the other end of the bay Plenty of anchorages, Te Kouma etc, and pretty much always somewhere to shelter. Nice cruise up the westside if heading to the Barrier.
  24. So I have a copy of the actual Marina annual accounts. Will try and write up a few comments later.
  25. Just about had a heart attack when I saw the new westhaven marina rental rates. WTF. So as I do I went to look at their financial statements YT 30 June 18. First thing is they look like a property development company, which I guess is not surprising. Good new they only pay themselves $22m per year (whole entity) in salaries They made $12.5m in berth hire. Marinas went up $20m in their accounts in one year due to "transfers" no idea what they transferred. They did a DCF in 2016. They dont do any segment reporting so I cant tell how much they spend in the marinas. Apparently 9
