  1. Yeah, Ive often explained to Philstar "ice is at its best in a drink".
  2. Sidenote: I would willingly throw myself overboard if it meant cuddles from either Branson or Theron... I'd think this would a 50/50 call and all subject to who was the cuddler.
  3. Nothing at all to worry about BP......
  4. Its was sitting forlornly at Westpark just recently. Got a bit beat up by the film crews and special FX guys.
  5. *** - Any suggestions on a better name would be appreciated. How about the Steven Joyce -- few can forget that amount of free publicity for a product.
  6. Try Inflatable Boat Repairs Hillside Road Glenfield.
  7. It seems different antifouling works better in some areas than others so following on from a previous thread lets create a bit of a database on where you are, what antifoul you are using, how often you maintain it, (and how) what kind of results you are getting. For me I'm at Northcote Point and we use Micron 77. It seems reasonably good but develops the usual slime build-up after 5-6 weeks if the boat is not sponged off. After that period the barnacles settle in the slime and will then start to cling on. Ive tried Micron 66, the cheapo International alternative and Warpaint. So far the
  8. depending of course on your build there's is nothing wrong with a bit of torn clothing
  9. Bob unfortunately misunderstood when he overheard a couple of dodgy types in the YC carpark talking about how good it was to get a bit high while sailing but thought he'd give it a go too.... "I cant see the appeal" reports Bob after his first go, "all I got was sore arms and then a falling sensation, which eventually hurt, it certainly didn't make for a good days sailing like they reckoned".
  10. Give me a couple of days and I can whip up a prototype for you to test BP.
  11. They won't tell you anything and say "Privacy issues". I saw that boat tied up to the end of U marina today while I was in westhaven. Where did it break off from, was it the one I saw on the cliffs by Ngataringa Bay?
  12. In case anyone in the Devonport, Bayswater area finds a paddleboard our lost one looks like this, but without the legs.
  13. Ive just got back in from going out and checking VB and neighbours. I jumped on a nearby trimaran and rolled his jib back up, its buggered!. Our only damage was to the two paddle boards I had strapped to the front tramp, two webbing straps broken, one board was having over the side on its tail rope bashing itself to death on the gunwale and the other paddle board is missing in action, probably somewhere in Ngataringa bay or based on the windspeed on the to of Rangitoto. If any one finds an 11ft white/black/green Starboard Sail/SUP board its probably mine. There is also what looks like an H28 o
  14. Ill see your 96 and raise you
  15. Is this somehow related to this thread ? http://crew.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic/13749-marina-ewof-requirements/?hl=electrical Or was it found Happy Teeth did not comply to Westhaven's standards and was kindly asked to move, or perhaps found a cheaper and friendlier marina to live in.... or was it some brave person with a TASAR doing the good work on behalf of all berth holders?? Enquiring minds need to know.
  16. Disturbingly this thing was spotted in our mooring area the other day and reported to the HM office, hopefully they can do something about it quick. The bow fairlead has broken off and the top rope is being sawed through by the forestay and gunwale. Its down to 1 1/2 bit of the 3 strand rope and its directly upwind of us in a W breeze, hopefully it stays attached.
  17. It was a DJI Spark, new full retail with controller around $1200ish, can be had cheaper if you use your phone as controller but you don't get the full range/altitude. Mathew picked one up sans controller for $400. I will have a play with it during the week and maybe start a drone thread.
  18. I have no idea what kind of drone it is - the pics were emailed to me from the guy in the little orange TS that was anchored inside us. Son #1 has just bought one the same and its being collected in next day or so , I'll let you know when it arrives.
  19. A couple of drone shots from the weekend..
  20. I dunno about this blasting past thing Dambo but here is a pic I snapped while we were catching you up!!
  21. Tonga could be a bit different though Hurts, did you book through Moorings? They are an Auckland based operation and know that NZ yachties generally are Ok, if they have any doubts will but a skipper on for a day or two to suss you out. I asked about getting a cat up there and the only question they asked me was "how long do you want it for?"
  22. Yep, the Clarkes were cruising alongside us the whole weekend. At one stage there were 24 POB.
  23. An awesome weekends sailing, managed a gennaker ride to the bottom end of Waiheke and had a few people over for drinks... Now where did that waterline go?
  24. I had a similar failure with our Harken furler but I discovered getting bits for old Harken furlers are finding like rocking horse sh*t and honest politicians...so I made an external sleeve to hold the whole thing in line, taped it generously and changed our headsails to soft hanks until such time as I can get the rig out and sort the issue properly. The soft hanks run up over the external sleeve OK.
