Gosh is chalk like cheese, after been trailer yachts the differences kick in. The C7 has a deep Skeg, with the pivoting centreboard intruding the length of the main salon. While the N25 has a vertical dagger board set forward giving an 'open' salon area. There is also a difference in the static height in the cabin due to the raised floor in the C7 compared to the N25. Visit a trailer yacht club or compound and step from one to the other.

The BOP Regional Council have a wave bouy out off the coast. It records a lot of variables, one is the period. Check it out as the significant period has ranged 3-11sec over the last month, mean period 3-8 sec and height around 3m and a max of 8m etc. http://monitoring.boprc.govt.nz/MonitoredSites/cgi-bin/hydwebserver.cgi/points/details?point=822 Considering its fixed these are large variations in water behaviour .......

That's a very good question. Not sure on the full or accepted definitions, ,but the usually interpretation taken around here is something like this: Direct supervision of a club: This is where the racing is run from an onshore tower or patrol boat on the start/finish line. The race stays essentially within sight of race management. Substantially enclosed water: A lake, or sailing area sheltered from open ocean (Tamaki Straight), harbors like Tauranga etc Other craft: usually taken as other race boats that could assist (may extend in busy areas to all other craft ?) Be interesting if t

Hi I currently have the 'standard' pressed grommet in the main, that is looped over the horn/J hook on the gooseneck when putting in a reef. Often this not the easiest of task shorthanded etc. The webbing strap with rings appears to be a nice solution. Also useful for pulling sail down etc Questions: How long should the strap be ? Could shackles be used in place of ring (saves taking sail off and transporting to sail maker) if a webbing strap is made. Are there other options,I'm thinking maybe a rope/soft shackle ? Thanks in advance for feed back

A submarine eruption started near Tonga on August 8 and has produced a reasonable pumice raft that heading of to the west at present. It can be seen on lots of satellite images and is now getting some media attention. I nice video clip can be seen here: https://youtu.be/PEsHLSFFQhQ This article has a nice compilation of the satellite images; https://www.stuff.co.nz/world/australia/115251006/sailors-discover-rock-carpet-floating-towards-australias-great-barrier-reef
