Cunning work around of the no boating rules going on with that paddleboarder . Is that a seat as well as a gear holder ?
-
Thanks for the info I was thinking of a single sheet but not continuous . Hole in the centre and soft shackle/luggage tag for quick change from gennaker to code zero etc
-
Way lighter than us then ! I should weigh ours but apparently it was 750kg empty with rig when built
-
I read an interesting thread in the archives on here a year or two ago on deep purple from way back when it was being built . Seems like it really put some noses out of joint down south
-
Are there any vids on YouTube on creating an eye in the middle of a sheet ? Would love a single gennaker sheet like the 18s use
-
Sorry didn’t mean your halyard was light but your overall boat/crew weight
-
Looks like one of the guys from wham in acid washed jeans having a snog with phizzle
-
Bugger it that’s light ! Our crew weight is 320kg ish so takes us a wee bit over a ton
-
Who are the guys having a pash up forward ?
-
Ah nice ! I had one until recently ....sold it to buy my new boat and In keeping with this thread I bought the patrol off the guy who now owns phad
-
That’s hard case and a cool pic . I would’ve been across the other side at puriri bay but in a micron . sh*t whangaruru was a cool place in the 70s and 80s especially when Seabee air dropped bread and milk at bland bay

I’m dying to know what your tow vehicle was for that beast !
-
I think he is a partner in Phad now ?
-
That boat is now moored out front of our Bach at taurikura . Guy who owns it lives on a tiny island right where boat is moored

Those tube/buff things worn over your face to stop wind/sunburn

YNZ Race Regulations Cat1-Cat5; Anomalies and concerns
Ex Machina replied to DrWatson's topic in MarineTalk
Well there’s food for thought there for ROs and inspectors . Both boats had great crews and excellent skippers racing within the rules but their outboards were found wanting a bit more Hp on the day -

It just seems a bit silly to me to require boats have $$$$ of gear for self rescue yet not have an engine capable of motoring into a good breeze -

Is there a minimum engine size requirement for keelers ? I can’t be bothered reading the cat list right now it makes me cross eyed . just asking because there may be a loophole for keelers under Cat3 that have outboards . two keelers lost rudders in a Cat3 race recently and required tows from the coastguard . Outboards qualify as emergency rudders as far as I know . both boats had 5hp transom hung outboards . The breeze was in the mid 30s from the W/SW with a bloody steep chop up to 1.5m at times . If the breeze had been from the southeast the outcome could have been very different -

Only registered horses we had were Harness horses . Registration was ice burned into their coat under the mane . had a Clydesdale with a station brand on it too . Particular breed societies have certifications and registrations . never heard of registration for all horses like what happens with dogs ? -
Did exact same repair and it worked . Used the bostic with a special additive . Made sure transom was dry and sanded it back to fresh wood then sealed with epoxy . Use MEK to clean off old glue . Use care with MEK or you will end up growing a 3rd testicle ....or worse

Most of them would’ve inflated after that lot

Got the overalls too (stormforce) but will add a jacket this winter . Whole set cost less than a big name brand jacket . The actual fabric is waterproof and doesn’t rely on snakeoil to keep water out . best thing is it’s made here in NZ . Have done two very wet coastal races in the overalls and a name brand jacket . Jacket leaked but bottom half was bone dry

Seen some horrific gibstopping done by boatbuilders !
