Isnt the govts first responsibility to manage the fishery, it is a traditional free food resource after all which makes it a little different to oil or mineral extraction rights.
-
Obviously I am biased but the S34 racing is fantastic, the first 5 boats are separated by 2 points.

How big are the holes 10mm? I'd just bog them

What are you talking about?

The marine market is tiny, they sell truckloads for industrial use. Try googling it in the US, 4 litres is $450 so we get a pretty sweet deal here

Hempel, despite being here for 15 plus years and being a big player in Europe (with excellent paint) they are still a minor player in the retail market, same with Jotun. Boaties are very conservative, which makes sense when the biggest cost component for a paintjob is haulout and labour. International for example is a good product, is it the best?-maybe but its very reliable and has huge backing so even though the prices are high, its worth it for most people. The paint companies know this and price their products accordingly, you can often buy the industrial/commercial line from some companie

I found that article years ago and kept it for occasional re reading, most people know its important but just not how much advantage it is to have a smooth clean hull. 3% is free money!

Pretty sure that if ultrasound worked to prevent fouling there would be some big players out there, maybe it does but when you turn the dial up enough to cook a chicken? Heres some more on boundary layers and yachting kim-klaka-how-smooth-a-bottom.pdf

Aidan in West Auckland think his biz is called Restorace for older ducks? Otherwise it's probably Hamilton motorcycles or deal with Cyclespot. It all depends on what you want done.

Welcome to the world of recreational stoves, poor quality and Gucci prices are the norm.

Its been around a while but maybe the price puts people off so not much feedback on a racing yacht. Have heard that its soft so easily damaged but IDK. Are you able to give us an idea of cost?

how was it to apply and whats the finish like?

Apparently they knew it was a problem and were waiting for a crane when it fell so no one got hurt, must be very slick. Hope to try it out if it can be made smooth like paint.

If you're not over occasionally you're probably not trying hard enough. It is difficult to remain on station to observe the start line transit due to tide, and the only way to accurately call a boat over is to be on the committee boat or parked at the pin. If you're sailing in the race you can realistically observe the boats closest to you and then only in relation to the pin or tower. The fact is most people are late, most of the time. Self admission of guilt is anecdotal and unreliable for all the above reasons, there is no change in racing culture re honesty. Do people push at th

Did you seek redress? 62.1. A request for redress or a protest committee’s decision to consider redress shall be based on a claim or possibility that a boat’s score or place in a race or series has been or may be, through no fault of her own, made significantly worse by an improper action or omission of the race committee, protest committee, organizing authority, equipment inspection committee or measurement committee for the event, but not by a protest committee decision when the boat was a party to the hearing

Makes sense if you want to maximise private profit, the public (you and me) buy and maintain the fleet while Fullers clip the ticket. Surely the govt could put those routes up for tender. We could form a crew.org consortium and chuck our hat in the ring if the govt is going to buy free ferries for us!
-
Same as the buses, deals done with public money but somehow the public are left in the dark. Fullers have no competition, you know free market and all that. I think Auckland would be better served with a model similar to NSW with a govt transport agency overseeing the show and competitive bidding for services.

Here you go; https://www.stuff.co.nz/environment/300570795/seasick-is-the-quota-system-the-best-way-to-sustain-our-fisheries-for-future-generations Do we need a fundamental rethink here, good questions about who "owns" the fishery.
