Too late into this thread, sorry, and the stain you’ve used looks great. But for others considering this I can recommend Sikkens Cetol HLSe Teak. Easy to apply and touch up each year while tucked up in a snug anchorage.

Yeah there’s nothing better than rowing ashore for a platter on their verandah and a glass of their finest 😊

I may be mistaken but I think the restrictions only apply if you enter a marina. You’d need receipts for either antifoul within the last 6 months or waterblast within the last month.

It’s not the govt which puts routes up for tender. Under the public transport operating model [PTOM] all PT routes are put up for tender by the regional council (AT in Auckland’s case). The Waiheke and Devonport runs are exempt from PTOM thanks to Fullers lobbying Steven Joyce when the system was created. This has created a monopoly with no control over fares, frequencies or standards. AT is currently negotiating with Fullers to bring the Waiheke and Devonport services into PTOM.

Now awaiting my regular sparky to fit me in so I can resume the summer cruise. All the tradies seem to be inundated with work. Why didn’t my dad talk me into becoming a sparky? 😟

These people (Jo Holmes, Jordan Williams et al) are toxic and best avoided. Massive misinformation being spread by this crowd.

You get what you pay for. Icom is expensive but goes for many hours on a charge, is long lasting and loud and clear. I’ve had cheapies in the past that were definitely deficient.

Had an anchor drag on me today which had me searching for anchor alarms in the App Store. Any recommendations?

Update: was at Maimai Bay, Rotoroa last week and again saw a boat unloading two huge dogs onto the beach. This time I phoned the island and within 3 minutes a ranger arrived! They’re very appreciative of people letting them know. The number to call is 09 283 0849.
