  1. No matter which you look at it. It was going to close. As I mentioned earlier just going through the montions."see we did consult with the public" But everyone sat on hands till final minute.Tough you get what you desrerve closure.
  2. obviously you didnt click the link. try concept 3 and theres a map,no hardstand no nothing. What we are proposing Growing demand from a range of users is putting pressure on The Landing. We are refreshing the 2013 Landing concept plan (Pathways to the Sea) to make it more accessible and welcoming to a wider range of users. We aim to cater for those seeking water-based recreation on the harbour, as well as those who prefer to enjoy Tāmaki Drive waterfront from the land. Concept 1: 2013 concept plan with minor changes Concept 2: Rationalisation Concept 3
  3. https://akhaveyoursay.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/the-landing We are refreshing the 2013 Landing concept plan (Pathways to the Sea) to make it more accessible and welcoming to a wider range of users.
  4. run north with the easterlies, why slog to windward?
  5. Got me thinking.A) must have licence to operate VHF B ) call sign. Now funny bit is I can walk to any marine shop and buy explosives,no licence,no idea how to use. Wonder MNZ will click to that problem??
  6. werent crays dropped to 3 per day?kawau/waiheke/barrier basically extinct. Now instead of putting total ban like scallops we are happy to put pressure on other areas.. Incidently I brought 4 commercial crays from the shop, silly price to what was a bottle of beer back in the day $155 for 1kg . Only brought as work gave me $100 so didnt paying extra $55 as the wife/boys have never had crayfish before, tried poting yrs ago, lost 2 pots(dont put pots down near comms) and found door open twice, clever crays managed to untie.
  7. I put the blame fair and square on reccreational fishers when we are talking 1 or 2 miles out from the coast. There has only been about 4 maybe 5 inshore trawlers working the gulf now. When I can out to the mussel farm and between 3 of us take 21 snapperin a hour between 35cm 55cm not hard to do the maths.Having said that we might fish once a month. and mostly shared amongst the elderly. We will get locked out to the 10 mile limit before long as per the RMA and council defined seabed limits. How many traler boats out today 2/3 thousand??
  8. No, what you will find distressing is each individual council enfocring the RMA around every bit of coast you have access too.Waikato asked for responses on areas they would like to close. But now have full rein under the RMA act and can procced to do what they like. The first example of this was at MOTITI Island (rena wreck site)closed to all in the name of protection.
  9. The original article by NRC included no Customary take but cannot be enforced without a act of parliament as IWI have the right under the treaty.
  10. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/hauraki-gulf-recreational-snapper-take-triples-kahawai-catch-quadruples-in-past-30-years/4WEPWCLRP4KEPMR2BQTSDLIUEI/ https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/state-of-the-gulf-recreational-fishers-catching-twice-as-much-snapper-as-commercial-niwa/FV4YPUKUJ3IVVBERRMPTA35CAY/ I believe it is now tripled
  11. Can be used in emergency use only. Coastguard will ask you for a call sign
  12. Brought 3 yachts value $10/$15 k and used my boat builder mate to check them out,no issue. Brought a 30ft $35k back in late 90s from a broker and bank loan involved.Had a qualified survetor and a sea trial, surveyor noticed vibration in shaft and when boat pulled out noticed loose prop shaft skeg, paid deposit until problem fixed and surveyor happy with repair. Then completed purchase. Surveyor back then was Jack Taylor.
  13. intersting, but could of gone the other way as the surveyor was not a qualified surveyor. Not clear as to a private sale or broker? If private it would be .Buyer beware.
  14. A vendor being a dealer has sign agreement with all the relative information.Private seller can write anything they like and if they dont repay the loan. The bank/finance company will seek and take vessel and you as purchaser get nil. And if a dodgey private seller grabs the money runs off never to be seen again?? If a private seller owes money do you really think that they will declare theres money owing too you??
  15. Same as buying from a car dealer.turns to custard it's on them and you get your money back. They should of done the checks pre selling or offering for sale.
  16. Thats the risk without a compulsory registration, their word no money owing. Even a trailered boat its the trailer only registered not the boat on the trailer. Buying through a broker guaranteed ownership of a unencumbered vessel and covered for defects under CGA How do you know the person selling is only owns 1/2 the vessel, partnership??
  17. sunbusrt and sail at waikatere(narrow neck) devonport??
  18. Was all layed out in 2013 now they have gone with option 3 closure just went through the motions to get the results
  19. my orininal salthouse 26 came fitted with a 3 blade and a spare 2 blade, swapped them over and 2 not as efficient but drag was less, now the 2 blade ,marked shaft so blade be verticle and locked in gear. Found out quickly not a good pratice better to leave in free mode. Went back to 3 blade. not a big difference sailing cruising but would hinder if racing
  20. yes that where i got my pigments from, nzf panmure, black, yellow, red, trying to mix a yellow/mustard 70s colour, ist batch not bad, brushed over scratches, but where there was major chips they advised to add balloons mirco and thats when it went bright orange, looked good but when dried nah, will sand it off and try again. will give it another go. Funny asking at the chemist for syringes and explaining what I needed them for. 100ml resin + 2ml hardner gave good working time.dry time was about 4hrs
  21. Had a crack at doing it myself, mixing pigments, look good while wet ,but yeah /nah will wait till next year and get a pro to do it.
  22. Sell the boat before returning or register offshore once off shore??
  23. I still wonder what the powers to be would do if you said nothing and aimed for the barrier and kept on going? Might be difficult landing at next stop. If MNZ were serious then they should have the powers to stop any vessel that arrives here from leaving without cat 1,we still send out snr to them
  24. need cat1 inspection.for overseas departure. I personally believe should be able to sign a waiver. That you will take all resonable steps for your safety and expect no search n rescue should it go tits up ,but no the powers to be want cat1 etc Wasnt there when columbus/cook etc went circumnavigating why do they think a lot has changed??same water same risks
