  1. was it ww2 queen mary kept on steaming after running over her escort?escort zagged instead of zigged
  2. some of are such an easy wind up,take things to serious, anyway Maori etc may of signed an agreement /treaty but even after the event we wanted more. In this case good on Tauranga iwi to stand up against the crown. This is only stage one.Wait till the water rights gets in to full swing.
  3. Europeans(English decent)have caused nothing but harm to indigenous people where ever they went.America, werent happy until they drove the red Indians in to middle of no where and killed the buffalo starved the people,go to Australia(Tasmania) just for fun kill the aborigine's and further more removed there children to be brought up the English way Here in NZ,Maori may of eaten all the mariori who really knows?Next minute we are ramming our religion./way of life down their necks,we arrived uninvited.Where ever we have gone we have spread diseases.
  4. might be wrong here, but pre european days there were tribes who went inland while others stayed on the coast.Take a look at Terapaha,he marched inland and decimated inland tribes. The Hauraki iwi who want to be part of Tauranga Moana, are probably the ones who settled around thames/miranda coast lines.imo if maori can prove ancestral fishing grounds they should be the legal occupiers/guardians. Customary is not just a maori right it applies to all Nzers,it is a means to exceed daily limits for special events.Tangis etc need to apply to the local kaumatua for a permit.

    15hp

If you looking using an outboard instead inboard I would consider a long shaft 15hp Yamaha or any well known brand, stay away from things like parsons etc and go new,2nd hand who knows what abuse it has had,new in most cases is not much more, charge system 4 stroke ,need a decent bracket that you can adjust easily. what is wrong with inboard as cost of o/b may fix inboard?
  6. Why should iwi/hapu not from Tauranga be given rights to an area that they have not fished?
  7. sailed in to hooks bay in a nw 18/20knt nw anchored in front of the house, very comfortable until 4.00am when the wind dropped and swell ran in to the bay and became very uncomfortable rolling away and swung towards the shore, very grateful for my diesel.Doubt I could of sailed due to the swell with little wind.more than likely pushed ashore.
  8. very handy those mechanical things, when on a leeshore at 2.00am,turn the key and away, particularly as Shane is looking at sailing up the coast,if he goes west and sleep prevails and awakens to the sound of breakers would be nice to have some reserve power
  9. "Wheels" address is no problem, just put down yours but you would need to confirm this and live the lie.
  10. Do what the rest of have done.Get a job!!Why should I support you through my taxes to live your dream?I presume you are on a benefit of some sort. Should I apologize for my comments?I think not.
  11. what you dont go sailing in winter?I leave mine inflated at the club under cover.
  12. a lot cav 32 are having osmosis problems, hence why some are $18k to $25k old tired yachts now
  13. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1244364263 "impact" Well proven ,sydney/hobart Raced one ton cup revisited If I had the $$ would be sold.
  14. In much need of a run to charge batteries etc, ended up taking an Italian visiting yachtsman around Tamaki river to locate or try to locate his dinghy which broke away last night,Finally found in the mangroves at Wai O taiki Bay,Anchored my boat and retrieved dinghy only to find we were not first as oars taken but now I have a topping lift + 15lts of diesel that wouldn't fit in his tank so worth a trip in the cold,
  15. Replaced engine anode, but shaft anode, little wear, bit of pitting as you would expect,no sign on mast or through deck ring,s/s fitting fine,push/pulpit usual staining, prop shaft only contact is direct to engine as have dripless shaft seal. But 2 years ago went through 2 in 9 months, been a change of vessels around in that time.
  16. speaking of anodes, mine, has been on 12 months with little activity, should i be concerned?batteries are off and auto bilge pump has own small battery on a solar charger, not connected in any way to yacht,no water in bilge either which is the name of the game.
  17. yep all 3 had electrolysis damage, may not be the device as described on thread, but the thing you put over the side and it sends a pulse. I cannot see how it would possibly work, but if it does why are we not all having them fitted, "Wheels" you maybe correct that there is a strong electrical discharge from said vessel, strange how it did not effect own vessel.Might have possibilities in a marina but a swing mooring? Will have to find out more from owner. www.jaycar.com.au/2-channel-electronic-antifouling-unit-for-boats/p/YS5600
  18. If you can cut it with a semi blunt knife, then you cut it from a prop, getting quite experienced at now,4th time in 12 months, water is still warm compared to july last year
  19. explain to owners in close vicinity why bronze props on 3 vessels showed signs of electrolysis, never a problem till this vessel arrived and owner was telling everyone how he had electronic device to stop foul?
  20. What ever you decide, cut it first with a semi sharp knife at home, trust me.And do not a kevlar braid,i found out the hard way
  21. Ha Ha works perfectly fine,do not no if it stops growth?but sure helps to eat up anodes of surrounding vessels in a mooring area.

    on the menu

Watched a program on orcas/whites and the orca is the only known predator to tackle whites, very clever mammals in the way they know just where the liver is and how to stun a white is interesting.Only seen orcas feed once down at ponui island labour weekend. Not at all disturbed by vessels in the close vicinity, while they went about the business of ray hunting.
