When one of the foils come off, they either go skyward or down the mine. I would say they were 'lucky' to not destroy more of it by going down the mine. Don't they typically design these things so that the rudders break without taking the hull with them?

If only they'd been able to shorten courses in a certain other race! I'm not bitter. Honest.

Still no PR from AC.com or the ACEA

Once painted - a hole in your pocket. That said, as long as the paint is good, the spar will last as long as the rigging.

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11780538 Curious as to where NZH are getting their information from. There's a massive swathe of "added extras" at the bottom which have no claimed source or quote.

Places you don't want to be on the wire: Anywhere in the sounds. The black paint job looks slick!

I think youre absolutely right Wheels. The condition of the boat in question and the ability of the sailors involved are much more deciding factors than the particular model of boat. We'll have to wait and see. Here's hoping its another case like the young lad rounding east cape earlier this year.

T878... one-off home-built trailer cat? I dont know many trailer cats intended for anything remotely close to that sort of passage.

These little quadcopters are anything but stealthy. The promotional footage doesn't carry with it the high-pitched distinctive electric prop whine that gives away all small-scale RC aircraft. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9cRjMip_fo

Spent the Saturday polishing up the boat for the Sunday race. Unfortunately, the paint is starting to delaminate where the foam of the trailer ribs meet the hull, probably osmosis, given how the foam is almost always damp.
