  1. List of Safety inspectors here... http://www.yachtingnz.org.nz/sites/yachtingnz/files/SAFETY_Yacht%20Inspectors%20December%202015.xlsx Would be interesting to hear what Yachting NZ say - playing devils advocate the boat may not be sound and he is blaming his age just to sell it on trade me?
  2. Mercia i think became Puddleduck, Vestalia was wrecked also...
  3. Yeah you do a little, but after alot of the big do ups the boats get changed to hide how bad they once were i suspect... And Clarinet is a pretty wimpy name for a boys Piedy - Rat Bags sums these boys up way better!! The boat is owned by two brothers who bought her as a project with their old man, they did all the hard yards themselves, and have a pretty cool knowledge of the boat now which is cool! Rising Damp became Moneyshot, Waimania became MissBehave i think, Triumph last i heard was in Tauranga and i think hit rocks and was written off. Pied Piper is still at BBYC owned by the Harkin
  4. The Clarinet - You wont recognise her. Before and After photos attached - Awesome to see the Piedys and Old Townson classics being restored like this!
  5. Entered? Who are we kidding, we may be old and wise but the young piedy guys are still hopeless and forget to enter! Entered properly we have Jim Beam, Rat Bags, Moneyshot and MotoMouse. But unofficially i know of two more coming, maybe more...
  6. And it is joined with the annual Pied Piper Intergalactic championships this weekend at BBYC too - so those that want to see Plywood floating around come watch also! (They are a Townson after all!)

    Owhanake Bay

Navionics which is normally up to date still shows both - heading off to Home Bay.
  8. There was a batch of dodgy volvo impellors - we had one on Cosa Nostra's old motor do exactly the same thing - was it Volvo per chance?
  9. The races i did on Cosa Nostra was more just a grin and bear it - race with a wing and a prayer. Its easy to get up, and i just hoped i could get it down in one piece! - Having long sheets so it can reach back to the main hatch was a winner dropping in the cockpit rather than front hatch - means you can reach everything without letting the kite go!
  10. i hear the guy from neptunes gear could be interested in sponsoring such a campaign haha
  11. Yes. it will be like a can opener to a coke can otherwise...
  12. The stem idea is pretty nice! Just concerned the hook in the end of the prod will catch the foot of the gennaker in a gybe and rip it?
  13. and am currently piecing together some stories from people to get an article about it - if anyone has some stories let me know, or PM me them. A blatant dig for the sponsor now - BJ Tyres in East Tamaki. Kev is a blimen awesome sponsor - how many other sponsors offer to sponsor an event - turn up in their own private launch - start the race, finish the race, do the race management, pay for, cook and clean up the bbq not just for dinner but Breakfast too - and then if thats not enough even supplies cold beers and rum! - Superb stuff thanks Kev. If anyone needs tyres, wheels, wheel alig
  14. Got a heap more i will put up on the BBYC Facebook page - too many for here. But not a bad fleet of single handed boats!
  15. Yeah thats not a bad suggestion Wheels. Alternator bearing would squeel and can load the engine up hard. A few questions also - when it wont rev out: 1) Does it black smoke? (As if the fuel system is trying to fuel it but its overloaded) 2) Will it rev out in nuetral - eliminating the sail drive, or shaft / gearbox systems as faults.
  16. How is the solar panel wired in? Is it supplying power to something even with battery switch off?

  22. Got one in the shed you can have for a bottle of rum Nige, only thing is its missing the legs that fold out and sit against the transom, it has the hoops that loop over and back down, and has the little domes to click into the fittings on the deck. Dont have the deck fittings but they are a burnsco stock item Will dig it out and get a photo tomorrow if interested.
