  1. A fun viewing -even recognised Jack from Matari the Herreshoff three master at Waiheke enjoying himself in the Pacific as usual.
  2. Bleeper picked up this morning thats why she shifted , been thinking of our friend aboard all night.
  3. I was surprised they closed the Bridge last night at 5 but I guess then everyone could go home and stand down and based on reports from the North was a sensible precaution, going over it this morning calm sea and maybe 15 knots no probs -not convinced tonight will be so calm.
  4. Thanks will view it, noticed the Datsun boxes at the beginning-reminds me of the Hartley 38' motorsailer and numerous Piver tris that when sanded down at Okahu bay revealed the designation BMC 😏
  5. Stripped the headsail off the foil last night on the cruiser as it was easier then, than after coming back from Squadron weekend on Sunday, hopefully am being over cautious but having seen the carnage in an Auckland marina when they came loose in a real blow it was an easy decision.
  6. The mussels were plentiful on the wave break-oh thats right the council is still trying to remove itπŸ˜• I dont believe mussels set up home in silt and mud.
  7. A number of large local charter boats stay there often
  8. Okahu bay is now stripped of moorings so not a bad city side spot
  9. Go to Opunga , you can anchor in close good holding and no fetch.
  10. It was a fast return though, will we recognise your crew dressed as spanish pirates ?
  11. Not exactly pretty but rather practical, I prefer the look of a Wylo and good to see that he has copied some of the features of them such as the A frame for dropping the rig.
  12. Its all true , and the local emergency services were lining the shore waiting as she drifted in , not having enough grunt from Tugs is something I didnt think would occur in Wellington with their history, I guess the Lloyds man will be enquiring why the cooling system is common to all four engines?
  13. Having depressed myself with the costs of some of my own boating, I should add that Easterlies are good boats and sail honestly -have circumnavigated and are roomy for their size so it is likely going to be a bargain.
  14. We spend more than that on a 32' and dont live aboard, add to that repowering, rewiring, new shaft ,stern tube , seal, prop, hatches, dodger , headsail, windows, repainting... these are the typical on going costs of having a yacht you enjoy, (over a four year period) To be clear these are all additional to the $1000.00 per month. So is insurance.
  15. Soon to become Spencer Island with a little more tide rise
  16. As far as I know the name of the video is correct , how any insurer could payout on such wilful negligence is beyond me.
  17. I know of many who have come here with no insurance , but not in the last couple of years.
  18. The most amazing one was the guy leaving Milford Marina before the tide was in (in the dark) he shot out of the calm creek like a champagne cork then promptly hit the surf and was wrecked.πŸ˜• Lucky to survive himself
  19. One or two may be gathering for a" not at Mahurangi" drop down at Milford
  20. On shore events and prizegiving confirmed as cancelled, regatta decision Thursday pm
  21. Looking worse now, there are calls for it to be delayed a week, however I doubt the shore based organisers would go with that, is the Marquee and Big Band still on???
  22. Could be a damp easterly one this year , I see even the racing Stewarts taking kites off and loading squabs and other luxury cruising equipment on board.
  23. Some Yanmar YM ones have been done locally... not cheap but permanent
