B00B00 317
I just brought this little boat for the kids to play with. I was told it was a moonraker 17 but on the trailer yacht association rating list they only have a moonraker 16 and 18 in that size. There is another sister ship on trade me also listed as a moonraker 17. Can't find much info online about them. Can anyone shed some light on which one it might be and any other info. Seems like a pretty sweet little boat. Kids seem to be happy enough. Going to give it a test sail over the weekend.
Ex Machina 381
I have a vague recollection of the moonrakers also being sold as bonitos ? So possibly a Keith Eade design
aardvarkash10 1,056
boom tent in place already. Prepping for Cat 1 and some off-shore cruising? 😁
B00B00 317
Haha, well it's not exactly a palace downstairs so got to make the outdoor space a bit more usable! Kids are planning a boat warming party out at the weiti river mouth Beach tonight with all their mates. Not sure if I'm invited yet... I'm just amazed that there is literally nothing online about these boats.

These items are all required for a boat warming!

Its the Kinsman, David designed and built it for his brother Alan. My brother and sister in law have brought it have been giving it a birthday. Going back in the water shortly. There is a other one that lives on the end of our wharf too.
Jono G 43
My Dad went from a Finn to a Whiting 16 when we were kids. Great little boat and could take two young families in the cockpit. I recall a Moonraker 17. I think it came out late in the trailer yacht game and was never raced. By then the Young water ballast 5.7 and 6.7 and Farr 6000s dominated the small boat division. There was also a Micron 5 of a similar size.
DBLRUM 8
Yes I used to own a Moonraker 17. It came with the Moonraker 17 decals on the sides so pretty sure it was legit.
