Black Panther 1,523
What about all the hardware touching the mast. Is chage an issue?

For extended sailing you definitely need chaff protection. Some people use a suitable fabric upon parts of the aluminium battens, some pvc pipe cut as to make a sleeve. It is a definite concern and something I will be looking to upgrade the rig with as time goes by.
aardvarkash10 887
Clevedon to Te Kouma and back for the weekend. As usual for us a mixed bag of minor catastrophes and simple pleasures. Winds were light and shifty and we motored a bit. Still, little blue penguins, fish jumping everywhere in Te Kouma harbour, nice sunset, good wine. Highlights include untangling a spinnaker from the furled headsail - blown inside-out by a 180 degree shift in a 20 second squall. Also, we cannot get up the Clevedon river at low tide plus 2 hours. A keel trench testifies.

DrWatson 357
As we head to Brest for another week of headwinds, I note that we’ve been noticed and photographed at some point by a marinettaffic member. It’s always so hard to get pics of your own boat under sail.

Black Panther 1,523
We arrived back 2 days ago. I have never before been so pleased to arrive back in NZ. I feel like I won some kind of birth lottery being born here.

Black Panther 1,523
Last night I dreamed I was trimming mainsheet in the America's Cup. We had just crossed ahead of the challenger when the crew started complaining because Angela had hung the tea towels on the lifelines again.

B00B00 296
Completed the deal on this beauty last week, soon to be renamed Rogue 3. She's a 2009 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 44i, fully kitted out with everything you could ever want in an offshore cruising boat- 200L an hour watermaker (+a spare katyden emergency watermaker), washing machine, watt and sea hydrogenerator, hydrovane self steering, bow thruster, electric winches, full lithium battery fit out with a massive solar setup, all new instruments and radar, Satellite coms, furling inner solent jib, Diesel heater, upsized 75hp Yanmar engine with 1890hrs on the clock. Literally fully cocked. She's currently located in Noumea, New Caledonia out of the water with the rig out getting all new rigging fitted. The Jeanneau 44i were a new breed of the Sun Odyssey line of boats, using the 45 hull but with a resin infused hull and injection moulded deck to get them lighter and stiffer. There are a few other upgrades as well as a facelift like the modern lighter wood interior and bigger hull windows. She's a real sweet boat and we were extremely lucky to get her. Heading up to New caledonia next week with a few mates to sail home. 3

DrWatson 357
Came 4th in a race. Hard to beat a Pogo44 and two 12.50s in a drag race. Did beat the next Pogo36 by a whole horizon, though. IMG_4296.MOV
