are we going to see another shaw boat grab the corrected time win for division 1?

One of the smaller boats in Division One, Karma Police are currently rounding Cape Brett, still with some of the top contenders in sight.

Trimming up onto the wind for the final upwind haul, on a gorgeous starry night, Karma Police has M1 close behind, and Formula One just in front of them.

Plenty of boats still out on the water and will be finishing well into the morning as its taking 3+ hours for them to get from brett into russel, and with over 80 boats still to round it could take a while. tune in tomorrow morning to find out how they all went. Zoe will be back on the coastal website at 6am to update everyone and I dont know what time squidd will be on here to update it. http://coastalclassic.co.nz/

Winners so far on provisional results.........these shouldnt change much as the lack of wind compared to 5pm this evening is killing the boats still due in.

Division 1

Line

1st Wired, 2nd v5 3rd Bare essentials

Corrected time

1st wired 2nd v5 3rd Bare Essentials

IRC

1st Wired 2nd Bare Essentials 3rd v5

Wired looks to have taken all 3 out. well done to them. They sailed the last half of the race very well to over take both v5 and Bare Essentials.

Division 6

both line and corrected

1st TVS 2nd 888 3rd Taiping

Division 7

both line and corrected

1st Dirty Deeds 2nd attitude 3rd Borderline

these results could change as Frantic Drift could be given a redress for helping out Lucifer when they flipped. The question is...... if they are given a redress, how much will they be given?

I have just got up and I'm checking various bits of news, anyone know anything about an earthquake and possible tsunami warning?

From Civil Defence:

A tsunami potential threat advisory is in effect for New Zealand:

The advisory will remain in effect until it is upgraded to a national warning or a cancellation message is issued by MCDEM.

An earthquake has occurred with these parameters:

Origin time: 1757 ZULU 21 OCT 2011

NZ time: 0657 NZDT 22 OCT 2011

Co-ordinates: 29.2 SOUTH 175.5 WEST

Depth: 16 KM

Location: KERMADEC ISLANDS REGION

Magnitude: 7.3

The above magnitude is provisional and may be increased or decreased as more seismic data becomes available.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (PTWC) has issued a Tsunami Information Bulletin in response to the above earthquake.

Only messages issued by MCDEM represent the official warning status for New Zealand. Local civil defence authorities may supplement these messages by applying local threat assessments.

A tsunami is possible. MCDEM and scientific advisors are assessing the severity of the threat to New Zealand.

People in coastal areas should:

1. Stay off beaches

2. Stay out of the water (sea, rivers and estuaries, including boating activities)

3. Do not go sightseeing

4. Share this information with family, neighbours and friends

5. Listen to the radio and/or TV for updates

6. Follow instructions of your local Civil Defence authorities.

MCDEM and scientific advisors are closely monitoring the situation to determine whether a tsunami has been generated and to assess the severity of the threat to New Zealand. More information about this event will follow.

This advisory has been issued to all local civil defence authorities, emergency services, other agencies and media.

Tsunami potential threat advisory is cancelled.

Wave height at Raoul Island is 10-17cm

Strong currents can be expected in the north of NZ.

Should make the trip home slightly more interesting (but only slightly)
