Guest
The BMW Auckland Regatta is set for some hot competition with new big boats doing battle in the A Division and three fleets using the event for their national championships. In A Division, the new Ker 40 Ice Breaker owned by Connell McLaren will come up against Ray Haslar’s striking red Reichel-Pugh 42, Rikki among the other more established boats in the division. Both yachts have been going through the process of shaking out the kinks and crews working out how to get the best out of them, so they will be watched with interest at the BMW Auckland Regatta. The regatta, from March 22 – 25, also serves as the IRC nationals and the 8.5 and open multihull division nationals, with Simon Hull’s giant red trimaran Team Vodafone Sailing expected to line up. The Squadron’s Elliott 7 fleet is entered as a class, as are the MRXs, with one of them chartered by an entry from Sandringham Yacht Club, Australia. The Young 88s and Farr 1020s will also race as individual classes. Beacon Marine will be on call for sail repairs during the regatta weekend, while Steinlager and Mount Gay will be out in full force for the Steinlager Beach Party on Motuihe Island on Saturday evening. The regatta is held under the auspices of the Squadron and Bucklands Beach Yacht Club.

Absolution 7
I see that B division is supposed to fly a "sandalwood" flag which is not something that we normally use. Anyone know if we get supplied the flag at registration or do I have to go and find one?

PaulR 3
Would have to fly a sandal above a piece of wood. Wood pay to fly the protest at the warning signal as well. Protest all the others in that division. Off to book couch and get popcorn.
Grinna 2
Sandlewood sounds so much better than "Poo Brown" Next, it'll be Cinnabar Sunset specified for your flag colour.
