Do you think you get all or enough of the old oil out going down the dipstick tube, I really like taking the bung out of the sump and leaving it whilst I change the filter, sometimes I'll also pour a cup of clean oil through just to make me feel better. I can do this with my genset as it has a hose off the sump, but there isn't enough depth in the bilge under the main engine to do this, so seriously thinking of getting a hose made up to attach to sump bung then attach the other end to a small plunger pump Probably just being anal but it always makes you feel good after a good oil change an

Thanks Winter, will do the same when I'm ready most likely

I think from the above you can read into this the following If your an older/long time keeler owner your less likely to be a member If your possibly younger or have a fizz nasty or a trip truck your more likely Guess it's a perception of risk thing really just like young and Remuera tractors drivers are more likely to be AA members IMHO anyway.

Where did you end up getting your pump Winter ? Something I've got on the to-do list and I'm sick of the stupid little hand pumps that the hose comes off and drip oil Last three oil changes were as follows Fiji Panama Spain

I'm probably your classic non member Sailed around North Island twice, NZ once, 3/4 of a circumnavigation over the last 35 years and a lot more as a yacht owner, never quite got around to joining but also have prided myself of never having needed to ask for assistance. But have been a volunteer fire fighter for over 20 years and volunteered at yacht club even longer. Maybe I'm just different But now I've said this I should join as this has probably jinked me, but self sufficiency is a state of mind I believe

We have a C02 extinguisher with a head activated head on it in the engine bay as opening the door to extinguish a fire is going to fuel the fire Like this https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR1rx4Hd2MUltvVMJVrh9iZfYr48jtRhc55ujKUz2n4sLyANO4_I3RmMbxK0g

Im with you Wheels For that sort of money you can get a lot of cruising boat, bit of a contradiction in terms a 'fast cruiser' So people like being there and others like getting there I guess
-
They may have had an issue earlier but at the end of the day she's only 35' agains 40' We expect their two handed performance to play out but it's looking like they are probably getting more of Blinks potential on a long board and fully crewed imho

Entries Closed Fleet fully subscribed in a month. That 40ft Assie boat will give you a run Smithy
-
The big question is Will Smithy make the cut for race three It's going to be the big one what with the shortest course and finish in Issy Bay
-
No went past the Duke, hope they head for ninepins not Brett The Class 40 should shine in these conditions if it's ever going to. The glory will go to the Orma and the Volvo but the race for me will be between 35'-40'
-
Nicks living the dream Off to Europe to buy a 45+- ft yacht then sailing home with his young family Have to admire the guy for that, he was probably trying to fit you in but just ran out of time and weather I am very pleased with the job they did for us but had to book 3 months out.

It's amusing how BPs attitude to NZ registration has changed seeing he will be legally residing in NZ in a NZ registered vessel offshore $1000 doesn't seem too higher price compared to losing your pension ? Not having a go at BP here but just interesting how people's perception can vary greatly depending on where we are standing at the time Don't get me wrong $800 that I paid two years ago or over a K now is daylight robbery but if I needed NZ support in what ever form whilst sailing around the Pacific/world then it's cheap support / insurance and I've never been anywhere that NZ regi
