The pole on Fineline was longer than J, I guess out about 110%. To pole out the non overlapping headsail coming back from Coastal, we used the leeward stanchion base and a sail tie as the inboard end. It seemed to work.

Swing the lazy sheet a couple of times around the brace is usually enough.

Are you being charged GST in Australia on the purchase? If so I think you might be able to claim it back when the boat is exported. I know this is possible for new items, not so sure for second hand items.

Foxtel announced today the races would be shown in Australia, perhaps Sky will show it in the East Island.

Luckily for me some boats are posting photos to FB during the race so I can follow the adventures from my current land locked location. I had forgotten about now casting.

I was looking at various posts from today. In one photo it showed slow going, in the other there was a reef in so a suggestion of a change in breeze. Such information in the hands of someone smarter than I, might be useful.

I was thinking more along the customs flights looking for illegals/smugglers. Is there not some sort of border security monitoring NZ waters?
