  1. what to put on wheel to avoid fouling?tried anti foul, lanolin, grease it is almost hard against a bulkhead and so remains inside hull and only put in when making a longish passage. thought about moving it but another hole and a patch.
  2. give it a good tap to make sure its still solid, ours looked rusty but felt solid till 11.00pm one night we decided to motor and it decided to part company, amazing how much water goes through a engine in a short period, ended up disconnecting water intake and put hose straight in to bilge, basically recycling water
  3. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-marine/yachts/keeler/auction-1147087461.htm strange how this went on trademe so quick
  4. We have altex no10 on prop and just buffed shaft with zinc on shaft, never had a issue unless boat sits for 2 months, swing mooring panmure.
  5. A builders house is never finished. A panel beaters car needs panel beating. A house painter his house needs painting which leads to a yachtsman's lawn and garden, untidiest in the street?
  6. yep she said when are going to stop playing in the boat and do the garden. All taken care of thanks to weed killer
  7. Acid baths not common but a few around, Try these guys, gave a painter a hand a few years ago and we dropped cedar doors off to same place and came back like new http://www.powerstrip.co.nz/paint-powdercoat-stripping cannot see why they cannot do wood as they do plastic/fibreglaas
  8. Do you really need to go back to bare wood?more inclined to use sugar soap with a poly pad, sand then wash.I would not try a heat gun near glazing nor use paint stripper. If are going to go to the trouble of taking glass out might as well take doors to a painter who has a acid bath.
  9. spring low yesterday and we need a 100mm more to get through, sat bumping away with every bloody boat going past for a 1hr,that was between green/red marker, draft 5ft,worked out well sort of,by the time we got free and on mooring club open. just checked 3.5 tides normally we are ok on 2.9/3.0m tides, first time i have seen rocks exposed by red marker. musick pt.
  10. typical club scenario,we have 400 members and decent amount of members own yachts, yet come race day we may get only 6 for a harbour course but river racing can get 10. I am guilty as do not race in the river often.cost sails gear etc prohibative as it is hard on gear.Do the occasional harbour race(just to make up numbers)crew seems to a issue Most of races are on Sundays due to work commitments. Use of club house same old 30 members, drink driving has killed it a lot, couple of beers out sailing and home? We are a bit different in that we have a haul out yard and a lot join just for the facili
  11. both on starboard, cat got ahead tacked on to port and stalled?possibly if the keeler carried on starboard may of hit port float but tacked which caused backstay to get caught, interesting to see the cat crew in no hurry to go forward though,be an interesting court case between insurance companies?

    Olympic results

If the olympics really meant something to kiwis the Government should step and buy the rights or say to sky free to air, like our national game rugby, I am not interested in the Commonwealth or Olympic sports, Oh he/she did well bet their personal best even though its 4 seconds off the world record. Look at the aging Mark Todd, only there because of who he is and past achievements, womens 7s,sour face bunch, anyone else would be happy to get a silver

    Prop talk

kiwi prop on the cav26 6 knt forward 6 knt backwardsalways good for a laugh going in reverse as long as you reduce speed to turn.
  14. Had a "spencer sabre"30ft no head room, sailed ok,rumour has it the height of cabin was determined by John sitting on the bunk and lifting a 750ml beer bottle there's your cabin height
  15. question to the answer , whats an ugly boat?
  16. update, informed last night Yes they a person and the area he/she operated in was panmure bridge to waipuna bridge. And the person involved was to join or is a member of a club up that way. The annoying bit is there must be a few crooked boaties around for this person to operate.
  17. quite like the look of the young, rego on hold?because its kept at their club??
  18. ,do you like painting/scraping working on boats?Shane, based in westhaven, you wont be able to take dogs to work though. passed on your phone number to Dave,
  19. davidson m20,plenty of room, sail reasonable ok,not too heavy, had one for 2 yrs and bit caught out in stuff weather i should of been home, like all trailer sailors, rigging derigging is a pain, fortunately we had a place to leave it rigged. For 10k you can buy a reactor 25 or similar but then mooring required.
  20. So "Shane" have you sold the variant?found employment? yep the h28 very for giving boat 20knt + we have one that races in the club and in a blow we have to engage in close tacking duels to get ahead, otherwise in a chop straight lining will do my cav26. in the light no contest. roomy comfortable yachts, would make a great liveaboard for you.
  21. Hate it when boaties steal off other boaties, even have it at our club other members interfering with dinghies oars etc
  22. Last night was informed that the police launch Deodar apprehended a person on Sunday night with a dinghy/boat full of stolen goods from vessels within the panmure pile/moorings area. Do not know who or what or how many boats are effected.Hopefully not mine will check this afternoon.
  23. no problem paying the fee Wheels, just a principle and it is not the first and certainly wont be the last time it happens,be great if registration proved legal ownership but it does not. Which begs a question how do you prove you own your vessel?
