Tauranga and RNZYS are currently looking at starting the A2T race to avoid the weather bomb which comes through at some time.
-
Looking at the various weather forecasts, when would the best time to start the race rather than the usual time on Thursday morning?

It's hard to pick what the weather will do due to the variations in the predictions, some models show reasonably quick conditions whereas some show terrible conditions!
-
Not fully confirmed, but it would be matched to the tidal conditions which we looked up but I can't remember now

Noelex 30's are a good option and a great boat for cruising around NZ

I have sent a entry form and NOR to SSANZ (Andrew Mc) who will distribute it to make it easy for people to enter. If there are 5 or more boats we will make a separate division, the trophy is amazing for this classification. The shorthanded division is still eligible for the A and B Divisional prizes and trophies, as well. Here is the club website link http://www.yacht.org.nz/auckland_tauranga_race

How about a blocked exhaust? Also, thinking about petrol engines, is the timing advancing with possible seized or jammed advance mechanism if Perkins have that system.

I go to the LINZ site, download the latest Raster charts, extract or unzip them on my PC. I then connect my Samsung phone to the PC using the cable and move the chart folder into the Android file which seems to be where the OpenCPN app. looks, I wouldn't mind knowing how to get it to select the SD card. Then I go to the OpenCPN app and select settings and chart info, then I select the file and it seems you may sometimes have to select it but then look through the files to find the one you inserted BSB Root, select that on and when it looks for the chart it uses hat one. I now have the 2017 u

Looking at the tracker, there may be a problem out in the Bay of Plenty. It looks like Oracle is going to Arbitare? Anyone know what;s going on?

That would be a great aid to planning coastal races such as the Auckland to Tauranga race which TYPBC run traditionally at Easter but are still trying to find an alternative weekend to consider!

Enjoy your Cape rounding whisky tot with great satisfaction!

Mike McCormick rigging in Tauranga could tell you what they use on old spars to make them look new again.

I've seen a mast that was oxidised and shabby but then an acid type cleaner was applied to make it like new again, a really good result but I can't remember the type.

I used one (Anchor buddy) this summer cruise, it is hard to say how good it was but with the windy conditions we have had it really seemed to reduce shock and I slept better with it deployed, we had heaps of breeze out there but not the extremes of New Year 2016 at the Barrier. So I'm a fan!

Hi Eruptn, my paddle wheel has just lost one of it's magnets so only reads half speed. Mine is smaller than the usual, what is the diameter?

How about the electric actuators that are similar in appearance to small hydraulic units? Maybe use a couple?
